Forgotten but not dead...

Ahh yes, I did abandon this thread. I am going to do a MkII of this little device and a complete pictorial dissemination. Give me a few weeks though, it's not cold enough here to warrant jumping right into this yet....

As a side note, I have a high idle box on my 01 as well. I also have a remote start module. I was able to get the remote start aux button on the remote to kick on my high idle. Also, I mounted the box and switch behind the dash and relocated the LED and adjustment **** to my a pillar gauge pod.

[QUOTE=Cspotrun;1290161] I suppose you could put the enclosure with the POT in the cab but your adding wire length and thus resistance to the cicuit. QUOTE]

I was thinking about putting the switch and Pot. in the cab as part of the dash. With the added wire, how much more resistance would that make? should I just put only one 1K risister in line with the Pot. to make 11K?

The extra resistance should be negligible..

hmm, I'll have to give things a try and see. Now, to make sure I understand this. The more resistance, the closer you are to the APPS being at idle?

Well, I used the idea and put the controls in my dash. I got it working, but I can only bring the engine up to 1400rpm. Not a problem really, I was just thinking it was going to have the potential to go higher. Over all, I'm happy with it.

Is there any actual high idle kits you can buy with an in-cab adjustment **** rather than making one yourself?

I put mine here. Mounted the box under the dash. I activate mine via my remote start remote.

i wish i had a clue how to build one of these...i rarely drive my truck in the winter now, but i would like it more for letting the truck sit in the pits at a pull and making sure the motor is up to temp for headgasket saving purposes

i just got my high idle switch installed today and i had a couple of questions. first off i started with a 10k pot like said above and it would only raise 50 rpms so i tried a 5k and it will go up to 1200rpms with the pot turned all the way to the left, but when i turn it the other way somewhere in the middle it goes to normal idle speed then if i keep turning it, it goes back up to 1000rpms. so my question is do you think this is a bad pot or do i have something wrong?

if i am going to run the pot and on/off switch into the cab - does that eliminate the need for the project box?
i am dumb when it comes to wiring. . . .
the rotary dial i see in some pics - is that attached to the pot?
if anyone has time to do a write up on this mod and really dumb it down (ie. APPS High Idler for Dummies!) that would help me out a lot, and i'm sure others would like it also. . . (i don't know how to read wiring diagrams, but can follow directions really well)

thanx in advance. . .
