Make sure you post your opinions with your new TC and VB from DTT.

I having looking into doing the same upgrade (TC,VB) but I was thinking of going with a Goerend kit, and have a shop in Calgary install it....but my biggest dillemma is who do you trust for the install.

I would definately consider driving to B.C. and buy from DTT and get them to install it.

Another good option is too put your truck on a train and then fly out to pick it up. The train cost $400 and the flight was around $250. It will save you time in the end and you'll get your truck set-up right from DTT. At the end of the day it will cost you money to drive there. About 4 tanks of fuel for a return drive and alot of finger crossing that your tranny doesn't blow-up. I didn't trust anybody here in Alberta for a tranny that would last for more than a couple of years. BD sells tranny's and NADP sells them to. But would they last??? Thats the question. Its cheaper in the beginning but I wanted something that will last for several years. DTT had a three year warranty and unlimited miles. Most of the big hp trucks use them. Thats sells me on the tranny. The only reason that I went with PDR, is that they gave me a big discount on there stage 3. I was the second guy to run their stage three. Piers used the first in his 700+ truck. I'm also running a 2000rpm stall TCS converter. It way better than my old BD or the original stocker.

Well so far my opinon isn't overly favourable, First when I was quoted a price on the phone it was in US$ but was never told so. Ok, I'm a Canadian talking to another Canadian, IN CANADA! Why would they assume that I knew you were quoting me in US$ prices?!? It wasn't until they called back to say that my Credit Card declined the payment and I asked why they were billing me so much that I realized what was going on. Upon rechecking their website there IS a note near the bottom stating prices are in US$ but I didn't make it down that far on my initial visit so ok thats my fault but when I asked for the total on the phone it would have been nice if they at that time specified US$ dollars.

Second is they did say that there was a back log of two weeks for orders. OK fine still lots of time to get it together before my trip to Utah in May. I called this week to check the time frame, its going to be ANOTHER TWO WEEKS! I realize that stuff happens but I've got a trip coming up and I specifically wanted those parts to be in the truck before leaving. If I had been told upfront 4 weeks I seriously would have considered going elsewhere.

<SIGH>

What can you do? Its like this everywhere in Alberta right now. Everbody is short on labour so everything costs more and takes twice as long. Why should I be surprised.

As it is, if it does get here in two weeks I should have JUST enough time to get it in. If not......

Honestly if the BD and NADP stuff had a better reputation(or were significantly cheaper) I would have cancelled my order and bought from a local shop.

What I really want to do is drive to DTT do get it built but after thinking about real hard I just can't, for at least 6 months, I work north of Fort McMurray and only have 6 days off a month(not all at once) and live in camp, but I did just get a name of a tranny builder that used to work for two of the three tranny builders and he comes to Calgary about once a month so maybe it will be on my days off if i'm lucky.

Could you R&R the tranny yourself? If so you could get it shipped to you andd install it yourself. If not any good mechanic should be able to install it for you.

As was said above yuo could ship it out(rail) and then fly out and pick it up when you are off.

Could also check with NADP in Edmonton. They are supposed to do decent trannies as well.

OPPS sorry just got my bill, I must have been thinking the US price when I said under $2000, it was just over $2600CDN with shipping and core charges(I'll get some back when I return the cores).

Still waiting..........<sigh>
