I am in need of some info on a GM X rod any idea if there is anything special about them or just a stock casting?

 

I'm digging into the grey matter real deep here but here goes....
GM had many performance small block rods and many were for the 302 stuff
O rods, X rods, Pink rods......... Some were small journal, some large. I think(remember the grey matter stuff )to get that rod it must have come out of a solid lifter engine or over counter. So to answer your question I think it is a stock casting for a performance motor.

 

weren't the pinks the most desirable of the OE stuff?? ...warning, I suffer from CRS and it has been a while for me too.....or you could just buy aftermarket forged...ie better.... - JKE

 

im familar with pink rods h beam and all the other high po stuff but have never heard of X rods. since i build engines i thing it would be good to know but all my buddies who do this have no idea either
