Another Stack ?

Hi all......newbie here and I have a question about what kinda of pipe you guys with stacks are running. Are you guys running chrome elbows and "Y" pipe or the aluminzed stuff with chrome stacks? Also I am wondering if it's cheaper to buy the parts seperatly or get a kit like Grand Rock sells though one of their dealers?

Usually aluminum piping with a chrome stack. So a search on here for "stacks" and grab a cold one and sit and read.......... I was going to do a single 5" chrome turnout, put ended up needing a topper instead. Oh well. When the heart transplant on my 74 W250 goes through I'll stack that truck. If you like welding and have the equipment already, I would prolly buy the parts and build it. That is what I was going to do.

Nice duster, the wife also has a 73. Not nearly in as good a shape

Thanks......yeah I have a welder so that isn't a problem. I did do a search for stacks and found some good info. I've been pricing parts and kits and it seems like the kits are only $50 more and with all the seperate shipping and stuff it might be easier to just get a kit from somewhere like the Grand Rock......They are fairly close to me to but I don't think they will sell direct. Someone mentioned the stack kit from them was only $175 with out the stacks....thats what I need. I got the stacks off E-bay and I need the rest. Also what about my bedliner....shoud i pull it out or leave it in and notch around it so i can pull it with out dropping the exhaust?

my set up was pretty cheap. i got the 4'' downpipe and 4'' pipe to the front of the bed for round 100. My 'y' pipe was 135. and the stacks were round 100. the y pipe is acually a peice of 1/4 thick 4''x6'' steel.

Just got off the phone with Chrome Depot.....they sell the Grand Rock kits....$271 for the kit minus the stacks. This is for 5" stacks to 4" pipe. I can't buy all the pieces seperate for that.......

Make your own its cheap and easy. I built my first kit for 130 bucks total. I bought the bends from a local muffler supplier and the flex tubing I picked up with clamps for 5 bucks from a junkyard and the stacks from the same place where 50 bucks ( I think there are pics of this setup in my gallery). If you have a fleetpride in your city they have flex tube and clamp for real cheap. I have 6" stacks on my truck now which I aquired from a friend for free which cost him 600 to build

I can get most of the stuff from NAPA.....I have free reign going through their catalogs......I like the idea of making my own splitter too....looks like I have some welding and parts gathering to do. I'll definetly post pics when I get done.
