Another IP Part # question.
So what if my numbers don't match any of what I've found lol? My number is the EXACT same as a 215hp pump, EXCEPT, it's an 885 at the end, not an 887.
Here's my info off the tag on the gear case that SUPPOSEDLY came with the pump, but supposedly the pump was a 215hp as well and I've never took the time to pay much attention to the tag. CPL is 1551. Model Number is B5.9-190. HP is 190@2300. And says it's timed at 11.5 degree. Manufacture date 19940328. So maybe the whole motor was a 94 instead of a 94 motor and 96 pump like they said. The only pieces I know for sure are the Marine parts, HX40 and the 370's I put those on myself. After looking at several sources I'm pretty sure it's not an original CTD Ram pump. Must've come of a piece of machinery or something.
I'm trying to figure out how to time this, and I dont' want to screw up the plunger readings and get like 25* advance lol. I have enough trouble with head gaskets.
Please someone tell me something good, I'm about to scrap this thing I'm so frustrated lol. I could use some good news. I fixed the fuel plate, which was absent. They cranked the star wheel so far forward I can't see it anymore, I backed it off a little bit. And the back cover to adjust the arm had never been touched, still had a wire between the two bolts.

Still haven't turned up any info, I've been searching online about all day. Who may I be able to call? I would've called cummins, but they're hard to get ahold of on the weekends. Any Ideas?
Well, I can get you some "generic" Cummins info on CPL 1551:
advertised hp: 190 @ 2300
governed hp: 180 @ 2500
torque peak (lb-ft): 475 @ 1600
fuel pump type: inline
pump manufacturer/model:
bosch p7100
high idle: 2875
cpl: 1551
certified by: epa
certification year: 1998
governor break rpm: 2575
governor regulation (%):11.7
3934242 pump, fuel injection (CUMMINS Part Number, Not Bosch)
I have no idea on the Bosch part numbers vs. the Cummins numbers on the smaller pumps (I have the 215 pump numbers, Yours isn't one
)
It "looks" like you have a 180 pump from a '96-98 Auto. I really don't know for sure.
Good Luck,
Chris

the boys at Sceid were a great help in decoding my pump. I have one of those pesky cpl 1968 160 hp pumps that didn't jive with most of my efforts to tune it by the numbers. Took them less than 24 hrs to call me back with all the info. The main thing is that they DID call me back for such a mundane, non-profit call!! Kudos

Sounds to me like this came out of an RV motorhome ... as far as my memory serves ... they were either 190hp or 230 HP and even go back to before, I think, the 1993 model year but how far back I don't recall ......
The HPCR - Common Rail - engines were being "prototyped" and built back in the year 2000.

POR I found those a couple days ago, before I found my CPL Plate, and hadn't been able to find my way back, thanks. Things aren't looking good, from what I can tell so far my pumps about the same as a 160hp pump. :-( Guess I'll be getting a new one from piers sometime down the road.
Update: It IS a 215hp pump. One of the early ones as I understand it, CPL 2023. Pending a check of the plungers as I've been told the 215's have a notch across them and the rest are flattop, this is good news
