Re:Air filters

Without any mods on the truck, some people just run a K&N in the stock box. It seems to be enough air. IF you start BOMBing, put a Scotty II in. I don't think anything else sucks as much cool air.... ;D

Tony

Re:Air filters

If you're staying stock, any "drop in" style will meet your needs.
If you're planning to bomb, skip the K&N and go with the Scotty.
You might as well do it right the first time.. 8)

AFE has a website http://www.afefilters.com you can either buy them online or call the number on their contact page and get the name of a dealer near you.

If you need to take your truck in for warranty work be sure to put the stock back in. Not telling you to do anything wrong just don’t wave the red flag.

Re:Air filters

I believe there are only 2 choices for cold air intakes. Leastways, that what the original thread asked for. That would be the Scotty and the Volant. See my sig for my vote. There is a gizillion posts regarding air filters in general. Those that have the Scotty would have nothing else! They would rather fight than switch.

Re:Air filters

The AFE Mega Cannon is considered a cold air intake system, same as the K&N FIPK kit. I know they aren't completely sealed from engine compartment air, but they are a complete air box replacement kit.

Re:Air filters

I'll give what info I have on the Scotty II vs. AFE Mega Cannon. Before I pulled my DDII's I had the AFE in for about 20k miles. I cruised at 6-700 deg and could peg the pyro on level 2 comp. After switching to the Scotty, even w/o the cowl hole I was cruising at 600 or less, cool down was quicker and it took a long time to get the egt's up on level 3. I don't jack with the AFE's anymore.

Re:Air filters

I bought a afe filter 3 months ago. I put a piece of tape on the filter-minder where the yellow was, with my stock filter.
I then put my afe filter in and went out and put the petal -
to the metal. Then poped the hood and looked where the
filter minder was and it was at the same spot.I dont have
gauges yet so I dont know what egts difference there would
be. After reading about warranty issue I took my Afe out and
put it back into its box. Bye the way my gauges I ordered
from Genos is suppose to be here today.
