Air Filter and pre filter

Hello all,
Looking for a BHAF and prefilter for a year 2000 dodge diesel truck. My research has lead me to..
Napa 2790 for approx. $55
Outerwears for $30.45

According to what I've read this filter should attach right to the intake elbow without further/any modification, is this correct.
Secondly anyone with a better price please PM me. Napa's price seems like a lot but I don't know being this is my first BHAF purchase.
thanks in advance.
Jamie

For $55 I would buy it. Mine was $70.

Yes it clamps right to the stock intake tube. Just slip the tube over the filter outlet and tighten her up. it will lay right where the stock filter housing used to be.....

I got my first one from the local Cummins distributor, the Fleetguard AH19037, for around $65.

2nd one I got from www.fleetfilter.com, it is basically the Napa 2790 one, for around $50 with shipping ($25 and $25).

They looked identical except the label.

thanks phox,

I found one on that site. BTW how important is it to fabricate a heat shield, and secondly how long (miles) do these BHAF last before replacing. Just to give my friend an idea.
thanks,

Jamie

Many people run them without the heat shield.

My first one lasted right arount 50K miles, with the Outerwears on most of the time.

I probably could have gone another 10K, as it was just filthy but not clogged.

I ran 2 BHAF's with no prefilter. I changed them at around 45,000 miles each, but could have gone probably another 15,000 easy. I had a heatshield, although not entirely necessary. They do work well as a splash guard, though.
I have a template so you can make your own if you want it. I think it might be posted in the 2nd Gen Tech Facts.

Yes please send me a PM on what you have. Again it's for a 2000 truck.

thanks Jamie
