Afe
Well now that im starting to make a little money i decided it is time to start bombing my truck. I know the important things, gauges, exhaust, intake, etc. but i have a question regarding the intake. would it be beneficial to me to just get an AFE oem replacement filter, or do you feel it is necessary to buy the whole kit. my future plans include and edge comp and maybe injectors. nothing more than that though since i am only in college. any input is great. thanks
well the AFE stage one will end up giving you an anoying whisle in the cab which my g/f complains about. Some thing to think about. It does let you hear what the turbo is doing though, less time looking at the speedo....
I think that the intake is the last place to spend big ??? , get one of the big air filters and the outerwares bag , then build your own box to keep the exhaust heat from going into the intake , about 75.00 or less. If you were wanted to you could spend 500.00 or more but I do not see why.
The AFE Mega Cannon is a great way to start. Unless you have the facilities to fabricate metal (sheet metal brake, welder (TIG), paint facility), the package deal is well worth the money.
If you really want the girlfriend to whine, buy a Scotty 2 and drill out the firewall. Its crazy, especially with a modified turbo.
Put in guages first. All the air in the world won't save you from a lift pump failure, or being able to identify it going out. Buy a FASS second. Air and exhaust third and fourth. Then bomb.

bigred496,
Bartman is right look at gauges FIRST!!! The AFE Stage II in Pro Guard 7 is the best intake for max flow and stopping dirt, whatever you do do not get a 4 layer gauze filter if you live in even mildly dusty conditions, they will let in a lot of dirt. Call us if you want we have been selling PG7 since they first came out and can help you with any questions you might have on them and or Auto Meter, DiPricol and or Isspro gauges too!
