You need that fuel to take advantage of the turbo once it spooled to make power. Two very different things.
Agreed. If I floor it from a stop with my TST on, heck even just my smarty on in the higher settings my 62/71 takes a long time to spool. If you slowly walk into it and then mash it once you get to a certain point, then it boosts quite nicely

[QUOTE=dieselman2300;2578016]"you need fuel to spool it" do you realize that is the 2nd biggest myth when it comes to diesels?
1st one is drive pressure kills headgaskets.

drive pressure will kill a head gasket as fast or faster than boost press. a friend of mine had a trusk with the same mods *** mine only i had the sps 62 and he had a stock turbo he lost his head gasket and never went over 40 lbs of boost i have seen 50-60 lbs many times over the last 3 yrs and the head gsky is fine.

back on topic do not run the 65 mm wheel unless you are going to upgrade to twins later you will hate it. i have the 71mm wheel in mine with a reg 14cm housing it gets hot faster than a 65 wheel but it will not reach near as high of a peak temp as the 65 wheel.

Sorry to venture off topic, but drive pressure has zero, zip, zilch effect on headgaskets..

Real short reason why.. Lets take a high boost motor with high drive pressure.. Say 50psi boost and 100psi drive pressure. Now in simple terms (because adding fuel makes it complicated) You put 50psi of air into the motor thru the intake stroke, now starts the compression stroke that 50psi of air becomes 910psi, now you get the power stoke, and on the exhaust stroke that 910psi bleeds down to 100psi. (In the complicated version the fuel ignition creates many times 910, but thats complicated).. So look at that the peak pressure we saw on the head gasket was 910psi, so how does 100psi of drive pressure make a difference? Even thou 100psi of DP is a 2:1 and horribly inefficient, and probably leading to higher EGT's than needed, its not having any effect on the HG at all.
