5" Exhaust System... Tell me what you think

I was looking at the 5" system for a '96 3500 here:

http://www.rpmoutlet.com/dodgec5.htm

Has anyone ever used one of their systems? Is the price just too good to be true? Is it the kind of thing I could install myself, or would I have to get a muffler shop to do it? If you don't like it, any other reccomendations for a good priced (it doesn't have to be stainless) 5" turbo-back system?

I like the MBRP. Friend has one, and I'm getting one soon. His went on really easy, and the fit was perfect. Also, I think 5" is kinda overkill unless you are pushing 550+ horses...

Think this would do the trick then? I guess I was getting a little ahead of myself with the 5". Is DTR the cheapest place to buy these from with their "member discount"?

Summit racing sells a kit that I'm happy with so far. Their regular price is cheaper than the sale price of the link you just posted... and it'll get shipped to you for next to nothing. Let me know if you'd like the link.

I had 5" on my truck before I put the stacks on. Thats only because it was on the truck when I bought it. It sounded real good, but it wasn't nesicary. I don't think it really matters though. With all my mods, I didn't see ANY difference between 4" and 5". Just however much you want to spend.

The one from DTR is a good price and comes from a good and dependable source.

I got my 5" turbo back, from ebay for $325 shipped. Thats with no muffler, though. It was $25 more with a muffler.

Made by Expandit. It was a excellent fit, and has held up with no problems for 40k+ miles.

Then I put a 6"x18" tip, from rpmoutlet, for $40. Looks and sounds great.

Here's a link to some notes I posted about the MBRP 5" install on my truck:

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=108017

The last post has a link to some photos if it still works. My IT dept. won't let me see!!

My one street/drag car has a single 3.5" stainless exhaust on it... So I had to go with something bigger on the tow vehicle just for appearance...

If I was paying for an exhaust, Id get 5 inch. Just my opinion, but it looks and sounds sweet. I built my exhaust myself, so it didnt cost me anything. I had the pipe already, but I still have some work to do to it to get it how I want it. That 5 inch motoblue system looks good to me, and that 6 inch tip is cheap!

I just looked on ShopDiesel.com... they have a 5" Aluminized System with muffler for $399. Anyone tried that out? I really do want the 5" system, but I don't want to go over $400 on this. Its even got free shipping.

On a side note:

Is there a big difference in sound between 5" and 4"? I'm not planning to go crazy on this truck until I've got money to dump into the drivetrain, which I won't have for a while, so I know 4" would be plenty... but if the 5" sounds a lot better... you know where I'm going...

JMO , i might be slightly biased , but the 5" sounds awsome, the only other 12v with an aftermarket exhausti have been near had a 4" on it , sounded good , but It was alot quieter than mine.

Yeah its a tough call, I know a lot of people seem to swear by the MBRP systems, and I guess you pay a little more for that assurance that everything will go right. But I can't afford MBRP's 5" right now, so I will probably go with shopdiesel.com's 5" system unless someone can convince me otherwise .
