Question 4" or stock straight pipe

What is louder and which one will drop EGT the best on
a truck with BHAF and DDTTPM. I want the best EGT drop but not too loud( I know,if it's loud I'm too old!) ,complete 4" system with
muffler ( Rip's) or straight pipe stock 3" system.

I just put on a 4 in. mbrp exhaust from DPP. Sound great and about half as loud as the 3 in. straight pipe. My truck's not bombed much (yet), but I have no problems with egt's

Go 4" it will help the turbo, lower EGTs, great sound, and it looks great with a nice tip!

Which Way To Go!!

Dieselcamper,

A straight pipe 3 inch will be louder than our MBRP system with our muffler in place, yank the muffler and the 4 inch will be louder. But remember our system in 4 inch mandrel bent tube with a the straight thru muffler will out flow the 3 inch straight pipe and lower EGTs more too. We have the muffler delete pipe as an option if you want one but we don't sell a lot of them as the system with the Spiral Flow muffler has a very nice deep rumble when you have your foot in it and very little when you're cruising. Call us if you have any questions and we will be glad to help you.

I 2nd what Mark is saying.....I have MBRP 4" systems in both trucks and I love the sound of their mufflers. They have a loud, deep sound when you are honkin' on it but none of the drone in the cab or raspiness of the straight pipe.......It is not much more quiet than a straight pipe but sounds MEAN.......If you want to be noticed, the MBRP muffler and/or system is the way to go, IMO.
