3rd gen control arms
3rd gen control arms
for those with rubbing issues on 35's...anyone swapped out the stockers for 3rd gen control arms?
my buddy gave me his when he went lifted on his 05, and the lengths and sizes all are VERY close to the same when i measured from center to center of the CA bolts. my thoughs are simply that the stock CA on a second gen flare out, where as the 3rd gen stockers are boxed and narrower, giving more room for the tire to clear.

NHDiesel swapped a front axle from a third gen into his seccong gen, using the new control arms, so they will work with minor modifications on the frame end. Here are his comments relating to the arms. Hope this help at least a little.
-Frame width is slightly different. This caused the control arms to not quite line up. They were close enough that I could get them in place easily by hand, so they should be fine. I used the '04 control arms.
-Control arm bushing sizes are different. I had to drill out the upper bolt holes to 9/16" abd the lower holes to 5/8" on the frame brackets. The '04 upper bolt length is different as well, but my original '96 lower bolts worked in the upper holes, and the '04 bolts fit the lower holes fine.

he used the front axle as well...im just swapping CA's
with the 3rd gen frames being wider, it has me thinking now, the lowers i know will work, but the uppers may pose an issue now. as well as needing different size bolts and new cam bolts. little more research will be needed.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines that that may help you know what would be involved in bolting them to the frame, that way you could worry more with how they would work on the axle end...
