24v transfer pump
24v transfer pump
I have an 01 24v and I bought a high flow transfer pump, and was wondering what all this entails, do i need to run a new feed tube into the tank, how big of fuel lines do I need to run, how much pressure is too much pressure, and is it bad that my new pump will run with no cut off switch besides the ignition? Thanks.
In order: no tube needed in tank unless you have the intake currently, 3/8" fuel line up to about 500hp, above that 1/2" is recommended, >25psi some have reported issues starting, no problem it is electric, when the ignition goes off so will the pump (this is exactly how the stock pump works).
I used a stock pump and a relocation kit from Vulcan Performance and it worked fine at 400+ hp. The only problem with the stock pump is reliability. Some high flow fittings and bigger line will work with several pumps on the market. All you need is a larger volume of fuel so that pressure won't drop as rapidly. If it puts out much more than 20 psi then a regulator would be prudent, but some people run lots of fp without incident.
If you can hook your new pump up with the original LP wire that is the best way because you get the ignition bump. High pressure before you start the truck (25psi +) can give you hard starts.... Put a fuel screen on prior to the pump if it doesn't have one already installed (FF5079 is about $8 from Cummins). 3/8" lines with AN-6 fittings will work fine like the guys above say. I've found that 14-20psi at WOT is the sweet spot. The VP bypasses at 14psi so you can ensure you're getting enough fuel to the IP. I've heard above 25psi might give your OEM fuel filter leaks and problems. Think about a bypass system if your pump is high pressure as this will reduce the load on the pump and keep the fuel recirculating.
Which wire on the stock LP is the trigger wire? Wantin to take my holley blue off a toggle switch & hook to the lp. Only gonna use the lp wire for a trigger for a relay. Thanks

I am getting ready to put in a holly blue ,can i just wire it in to the same plug that was used for the stock lift pump,or do i have to wire it through a separate relay, and will it produce enough psi,it says 14 psi.
