1993 with P7100

I just swapped a 1997 215 hp engine into my 1993 W350.

I installed a PDR HX-35 turbo on it and a larger intercooler, which was on the original VE engine.

I know very little about the P7100. The pump does not appear to be modified.

The motor was sitting indoors sealed up for 9 years. I haven't started it up yet. I have changed all the fluids, and filters. I just ordered a new lift pump and shutdown solenoid for it.

All I do with the truck is tow my 10000# camper.

My question is what should I do to the injector pump? I was thinking of changing the governor but beyond that I am not sure what else to do to it.

Any suggestions?

Without getting too deep into it, governor springs (3k rpm) , timing around 16-17 degrees, and a mild fuel plate with a boost elbow to delay wastegate to 30 psi. Or slide the stock fuel plate back for a baseline. Should be enough power by then.

Who put the PDR turbo and the IC on it?

I think that if the previous owner did that you can safely assume that the pump will have some plate and a GSK in there, because normally you don't add the supporting air without upping the fueling.
My take would be to install gauges (boost, EGT , tach if not already there) and go for a test drive.
Maybe it already has all you need?

Very good point.
The PO most likely did some fueling mods firsts. They are so cheap and easy most people do them first, before spending the cash on that turbo and bigger I/C to keep EGTs and such down, A stock fueled truck would never need bigger turbo to stay in safe ETGs unless it had other issues. My '95 is totally sock and I can barely get it into the 1000F mark, pre turbo probe location, towing pretty heavy up a steep hill.

I would say gauges first, test drive, then modify as needed is a great plan.

The turbo and intercooler was on my 1993 truck with the original VE engine. I am carrying them over to the "new" engine.

The 1997 P7100 engine had no turbo an it an the PO claimed it was stock, which it appears to be.

I have a boost and pyro on the truck.

AHHH...
Then Gorm's plan is solid for mods. The Gov spring on a 5 speed would be a good call to free up some RPMs.

Though running the fueling, as is / stock first to get a baseline is a pretty good plan.

This new motor does not have a fuel heater.

where I live it gets cold in the winter around -40* F.

I try not do drive it too much in the winter.

Will this be a problem?

On really cold mornings it could easily be a problem.
I find after -20F or so fuel system weaknesses start to really shine.

I got it up and running. Everything seems good.

I'm struggling with the throttle cable. The routing of it tricky it seems like it is too short.
