The new P7100

Brand new in the box from Bosch. Of course I let Joe Donnelly have a look at it first. ;D ;D

Don~

Re:The new P7100

Its almost stock too. Just a mild #0 torque plate and some gov springs. Its almost too pretty to put on the old engine.

Don~

Re:The new P7100

Ok, I have a question. How does the "plate" work, and where does it go, etc? Just curious. I always hear about the plates, but I have no clue about their operating theory.

Re:The new P7100

ok, so you stop by and pick a new pump up without getting me one? how selfish! ;D

Jack: to put it more simply- the more the plate goes forward, the more fuel that gets forced through the injectors. the lever inside moves forward. the plate stops it. going to a low # plate--the only problem is that it burns a lot on the downstroke (black smoke) and causes the internal pressures to go up quite a bit. injectors add more fuel during the "regular" burn cycle and hence less smoke and lower pump pressures (with a more stock plate).

Re:The new P7100

Ok, so that explains it a little bit. I guess I would have to see it in action, or diagram it to fully understand, but I get the idea.

Re:The new P7100

My old pump was roached. Way too many 4500RPM runs on it.
The number 4 and number 6 cam lobes were worn down, a couple of plungers and barrels were scuffed, and I was beginning to expect the roller lifters and springs were getting kinda tired.

With my old pump on the bench when I tried to turn it over, it was very difficult, almost like trying to crank an old engine over. This new pump just turns over with ease....very smooth indeed.

Im guessing the old cam with the worn lobes was killing my HP in two of the six cylinders as well.

Don~

Re:The new P7100

More like how much did you win off the lottery to afford a new bosch pump???? Aren't those things like $2,900.00??

Re:The new P7100

There is something special about opening a box from Bosch. Money sometimes takes a back seat to Bosch stuff ;D ;D

Don~
