1600 pyro and stutter

just put my pyro in and never realized how hot the truck got. i dont think its normal.
take into mind that this is on flat roads from a roll
i can peg the 16 on the optix gauge all day. just goes to16 as fast as the boost comes up
i can hit 14 with quad off.
i had the miss/stutter or surge every once in a while before i put inj in.
now i see on the pyro when it surges the pyro falls lower. in other words it pulls hard/hot normally ,but when it surges it pulls less hard and cooler on pyro. almost feels like im turning my quad up and down.
help me please
like to solve this prob before i tow somethin.

BTW
I DIDNT GET MY FUEL GAUGE YET SO...........

uh your egts are way too high man, dont run it like that for too long.So you added big injectors and a fueling box BEFORE you added guages?no offense but you should listen to guys on the site when they say get the guges first! With no fp guage Im willing to bet your lift pump is toast and your vp is on its way out.Personally I wouldnt even drive the truck if I were you. When i bought my 24v the first thing I did is buy a set of guages, then I realized I had 5 psi of fp ,so I quit driving it until I got a new lp.You have so much fuel I bet your truck will smoke like crazy if you had no probems withe the fp

first off it will smoke like a freight train. im talkin lights out if smoke switch is connected. it has a walbro kit on it and that was first thing i got. i guess i cant say anything about fuel press till i put a gauge in,but i bet its ok before the vp. how do you test the fuel on the vp?

so we got some big sticks and a quad (or whatever) on a stock turbo? dang, no wonder your seeing high egts.

check the boots for a boost leak. You should be able to hit ~38 psi safely if set up right. that may help a little. But your looking at a turbo upgrade

do you think i could get away with a hybrid 35/40 and maybe a 14cm exhaust housing?
do you think the pickup in tank is clogging and that is whats causing the surge?
should i pull it out and check?
is there any mods i can do to a stock one? i have a filter before my walbro
i hear w/draw straw you gotta fill up at 1/4 tank or youll run out?

I dont know, i would think your surge would be more of a VP 44 issue, Its hard to diagnose a surge without driving the truck ! first step would be getting a Fuel pressure gauge! That would help!
On the turbo note, i would go ahead and go htt or ii
62/12 or 14 at the smallest , there cheaper to upgrade!

ok heres an update
i installed a fuel pressure gauge,in my wide open diesel Fuel Filter to Injection Pump Hose,
it is actually a autometer oil pressure gauge cause thats what i had to use temporarly. it was reading 13psi at idle and when i rev it in neutral it would drop to 11ish.............. so i cranked the regulator to 25 at idle and roughly 20ish wot.

i also took the push on wire taps off the pump n stuff under the hood that connect to my quad and soldered them direct,so no more connectors.

i redid my boost gauge cause the nylon line was getting pinched inside the pillar pod cause it was hitting some plastic.

truck seems to run smoother and spool faster
seems to smoke a little more also
i didnt feel any surging in the 35 miles i drove
it has been snowing alot today so i could not check pyro max, too slippery,i still saw it go to 1100

here is my question
what is too much on idle fuel pressure, what will it hurt

thanx marc

Marc,
Some run up to 20psi, i wouldnt recomend anything over 15lbs they seem very happy. Its really is just a matter of opinion! Try and not drop below 12 psi at wot. They say there safe lower but i dont like to get any lower!

it depends how you cut it! I'm still running stock but we're putting one in this thing in the next few weeks! it would be a concern but if your not having cavitation issues or fuel pressure issues i would wait! Its also a great fix for priming problems, i think there are some problems with these modules cracking, you'll just have to search for a thread! The best option for controlling the Alge in the tank is Stanadyne!
