14 cm housing.... wastegate or no wastegate?

My 98 has a 14 cm turbo exhaust housing and it doesn't seem as "snappy" as my 95 did. Both trucks have a #6 but the 95 was bone stock other than that, this one has mega air intake and 4" magnaflow and a 4k spring kit. Is there any thing I can do to give the throttle response or quick accelleration the 95 had? Should I put the stock exhaust housing back on? Or put a wastegate on it, the port has a plug in it now, I assume the previous owner plugged when he put on the 14 cm.

slide your plate forward but make sure your govenor arm is adjusted right, slide yhe AFC full forward, Turn starwheel full forward other than that put some bigger injectors in there. I didn't see any of this stuff in your sig you might already have tried this.

The wastegate will only limit your max boost provided by the turbo. Your lack of "snappy" power may just be the difference in lag from the 12cm housing to the 14cm housing. If you dont have any EGT issues and you dont plan on adding more fuel go ahead and try the smaller housing.

the bigger housing is exactly whats causing his lack of power, your going to have to add more fuel to compensate for the bigger housing.

If adding more fuel is out of the question right now, putting the smaller housing back on like DESL PWR said would help it spool alot quicker.
