14 cm houseing

I have heard alot of stories about changing my 16 non/wg for a 14 wg. I have been told it will lower egts. I finally found the 14 for a good price so I will try it but I still dont know if I believe it or not. I know it will spool quicker but thats not what Im after. Can someone please explain to me how the smaller houseing will run cooler than a bigger one.

Thanks, Mooseman

Upgrade the compressor side of your turbo, that way you will keep the quick spoolup and cool down more to boot. Check out my truck spec for more info. It is my understanding that going to a larget 14 cm housing as you are indicated will actually spool slower.

Sorry, I didn't see that you already had a hybrid. You need a B1 or HTB2.

Maybe drive pressure would be lower with the waste gate open on a 14 than not having a wg on a 16. I do not know just my 2 cents

I agree.........I think that is what may have been implied..........if your non WG 16cm is overboosting you could be super heating your intake charge, also drive pressures may be way too high as a result and this could also lead to an increase in egt.......the only way a smaller housing could possibly help is if it was wastegated to keep the boost in check, other than that it may only make matters worse.........maybe others with the hybrid 14cm combo could comment.........
