Everything that you see is 4wd because of traction issues. your gonna need a good suspension set up and atleast a set of drag radials to do it.

you are gonna need a good set of traction bars and big slicks for 12's

to go as far as 11's you are gonna be looking at a 4-link, with coil overs or possibly airbags, with a tubbed out bed and slicks. not to mention you are gonna need to shed weight

trying to plant 1300ft-lbs of tq with 2 tires when about 65-70% of the weight of the truck is forward of the center of gravity is a difficult task

i figured traction was an issue, but i cant sell my truck ,i have too much invested to start over. it would take me forever. its worth a try ,aleast it will be awesome on the street and interstate . thanks dieselfan

oh i hear ya...ive had a chance to buy a few trucks...one was a BUILT 24v with nearly 700hp, another was a nice 12v with built sheids motor, brand new everything on it, then there is a nice 12v, all stock, ALOT cheaper than what my truck was, so id have LOTS of money left over for goodies...but im so far into mine now, ill never get rid of it unless someone offers a crazy amount of money on the spot.

i wish i had as much as you have invested. i also thought of buying a built truck out of the classifieds, but then i thought what fun would that be? building it yourself is a learning exp. and exciting also feeling like ive accomplished something i think dieselfan

i bought a truck at a dealership with a "banks" kit, exhaust, gauges, wastegate, and ottomind tuner...the truck was prolly putting down about 250hp/500tq at the wheels (245/505 at the motor for a stock truck)

when my truck hits the road again im looking at 500-525hp...so yea i like the feeling of accomlpishing something, rather than cutting a check and letting someone else do the work.

we test drove our 2wd manual today, in the 1/4 it ran 14.60 at 100 mph!
and 9. something in the 1/8

of course thats spinning the tires badly in 3rd! not to mention the 64 turbo lag, on take off! at more rpms, the tires will only burn!

how much time would i gain with 100% traction (slicks or 4x4) ?

thanks

whats your 60' time? i dont see a 2wd pulling better than a 2.0 with the weight of our trucks. but most of the time a tenth in the 60' can mean 2 tenths in the quarter mile

BTW i made 448hp/821tq on a dyno, the next week i went to the track and ran 15.3@97mph with a laggy hx55, and a not so good for launching clutch

dont have the 60' time!
what exactly do you mean with: "i dont see a 2wd pulling better than a 2.0 with the weight of our trucks."

unless you put a 4-link or major traction device and some big slicks on a heavy CTD, i dont see a 2wd getting enough traction for a better 60' time than 2.0seconds or a 1.9 if you are really good.

the trucks are just too heavy to leave the line that quick...and with all the torque you will break the tires loose very easily

Spinning all through the 60 from a boosted 3rd gear launch was good for 2.3 in my rwd. That was my first time at the track and think I'll do better next time. Don't ask what my other times were
