electric vacuum pump

where can I get one? I know the powerjokes have them, but they have hydro brakes, will that pump pull enough vacuum to operate my brakes also?

I know that the 89 Ford 7.3 diesel that I had, had a belt driven vacuum pump. When I bought my first diesel, an 85 Chevy Suburban, they didn't have much of a vacuum pump, we also had an Airstream Trailer with vacuum acutated disk brakes. Need more vacuum, so I discovered that early GM 4 cyclinder cars had electric vacuum pumps to assist the engine vacuum. Found one, and built several tanks out of 4" PVC pipe. Plumbed it into the system and it worked great.

Yeah.....I think the GM Vacuum pump was only on the engine to run the turbo wastegate.....

You have Vacuum booster on your 95???

I've read of several people with vacuum assisted brakes using an electric Ford pump rather than replace an expensive Dodge pump.
Never done it myself but apparently the pump is available at most autoparts for under $100.

we have a few ford bobtails here at work, I looked at it and it looks ideal except I don't know if it pulls enough vacuum to hold up to braking also. the fords have hydroboost brakes.

The larger Chevies also use hydroboost on their brake systems and I am pretty sure our Dodges do to.
