Want to install "Fords" Electric Vacuum Pump on '94-What year do buy??

Bought a used 1996 5th wheel camper, & came down our steep driveway a couole weeks ago..holy moly...prayers & extreme slow caution, while almost standing on the brake pedel we made kt!! but wow..I need to get the Vacuum pump from Fords or any other source..I always come slow down the hill, but the factory amount gets used up in a couple pumps when it idles..Infeldel or someone else suggested the NAPA pumps for about $89.00..My question is what year can be used on my 1994 ram2500 diesel...thanks in advanvce!!!

Here is a photo of one I'm looking at.

Like 99-2010 or something like that. It doesn't put out enough to replace the stock pump, but might assist. The best thing would be to convert to hydraboost, get rid of any chance of vacuum not being good enough for brakes.

I have access to a used one ton chev parts truck, at a local salvage yard..The electric vac pump would be the fastest way right now. But I will do a search on this site for info. thanks

What about adding a vacuum tank, kinda like a compressed air tank, but not pressurized?

That would help prevent it from being a one pump fade for sure.

I don't go for the electric pump except for on the hydro assist trucks when the vacuum pump is shot.

Vacuum tanks work
I've made several vacuum tanks out of 4" PVC pipe about a foot long with a cap glued on each end.
Just one hole in the cap tapped to 1/4" pipe thread with a hose teeing in anywhere in the vacuum system is enough.
Hard part is finding a place to mount it.
In front of the radiator support works but is a hassle.
On the frame and teed into the 4wd vacuum supply is easier and you can even make the tank larger if you like.

You get longer assist out of the limited vacuum by holding the brakes down and never letting completely off when you find yourself in those situations.

Thanks for the tip..dont release the brakes until you get to the bottom! will try it & consider the vacuum tank!

does the trailer have brakes?
I hope you look into why they weren't working.

Yes, adding a vacuum reservoir will definitely help.

I "tested" the vac brakes on dad's 94 when I visited in August and agree the factory vacuum brakes are lackluster to say the least.

I plan on adding the above designed canister on his truck this winter as a safety measure.

I will make mine out of abs or uv treated PVC, the Montana de-icer shouldn't affect this material....
