Tires...again

Buying tires for the truck after my next pay check. I'm set on getting Nitto terra grapplers. Do I need to have a load range E tire or is a D ok to run on my truck? I don't tow a heck of a lot, it's mainly a daily driver. I just don't wanna buy D's and have them wear bad or premature.also which would be better, the 305/70/16 or the 285/75/16? Thanks

Unless you go bigger in size, which it looks like you are, I would stay with the load range E. Plus the two sizes you mentioned are really close together in overall height. The biggest difference is the width at 20 mm, which is close to 1 inch. Also I think the Nitto is built in E in the 285 size.

I m a old fart and drive easy on my truck. I dont do burn offs and tear my truck up everytime I come to a stop sign. I get 50-60k + on my BFGs 35/125/16.5 on my old truck 3rd set in 20 years.

I run 295 Nittos. They had less than 1/2 tread when I got the truck and I've now put 12k more miles on them. They seem to be wearing ok. I think you just have to rotate them often. Mine are load range D too. I think they're fine inless you're towing heavy.

Only 20K, looks like i'll stay away from 305 nittos in that case. I see you mentioned BFG's, I know they are expensive but are they a pretty good tire otherwise?

Bluequarter. The nittos were on my dodge truck when I got it. My older 4x4 chevy truck I always bought and ran The BFG all terrains . BFGs just plain are good wearing tires (harder rubber) so Im used to them. My nittos just arent wearing very good and I dont drive that truck that much.

I was priceing and looking at tires and checking out different sizes for my next set for my CTD. Nittos(again), Toyos, BFGs, etc. Yea The BFGs cost More than the other brands , so I was checking out what else is avalable. But Now after seeing the wear . Im thinkin the higher price for the BFGs Might be worth it If they last more than twice as long . They are more money but not that much.

BFGs are good tires . Only reason I would see not to buy them is if you were going to drive alot on hard rocky roads in Idaho canyons, etc, where you might want cheap tires because your' going to cut side walls alot and ruin expensive tire.

The nittos I have are load range D. They are rated at 500 treadwear. I have about 21,000 miles on mine and they have about another 1-3 thousand left in them. I do rotate them quite often though.

I don't tow anything heavy but, do tow about 6K pounds every friday and saturday 8 months out of the year. For what its worth

I have a set of 305/70/17 and love the size and the way the tires look. I would go with the 305's.
