10 ply 285's

I really like the look of the 305's on my truck but the 3000 lbs load rated 8 ply just make me a little nervous. I was wanting to know if anyone knew of any good 10 ply/ load range E tires in the 285 to 305 height range. All i have found so far is the TrXus Mud Terrain which is rated at 3700 lbs in the 285/75/16 size. these tires are made by interco. does anyone know if these tires are any good?

thanks,
blake

Not sure about the TrXus, but I have been running their 35" X 12.5" X 16.5" SSR's for 20,000+ miles with great results. These are 10 ply radials, E rated.

Trxus tires

The Trxus tires are a decent tire off road - especially for the price but they are below average for street use. They are fairly loud on the highway and are a somewhat softer than average tire. Wet weather performance stinks compared to a BFG mud T/A and there is no siping. If you spend more time on the highway and on road performance and handling is important to you then I would stay away from this tire. But if offroad performance is important to you then this tire offers alot for the price.

go to www.ntwonline.com and select "tires". you can look at each brand. when you find a tire that interests you click on it. when the page comes up showing the tire and it's price, click on "more detail" or "tire specifications". this will tell you overall diameter, load rating, ply rating, actual width, tread depth, recomended rim width, etc. i find their site very helpful in choosing tires.

also there is a post on here about those truxus tires. if you type in truxus in the search box or tires it will come up. but someone bashed those tires really hard. he said they wore too fast, but you should read it and see for yourself beacuse i can't remember half the things he said was wrong with them. i think "captdash" was the creator of the post, if that helps.

Try the Toyo Open country A/T or Nitto Terra grappler. They are E rated to over 3450 pounds in the 305/70R16 size.

Both good tires.

parnelli jones dirt gripz are all e rated. the smallest size is a 33x12.50, i think. they're about 212 per tire in the 33. and i've heard these tires last a good long while too.

I've been running the nitto's for about 20k. They are a good tire all round, both in the mud and on the street. Plus they are a 10 ply. Check National wheel and tire they had the best price. They are very quite for a at tire.

I need tires too! I like the BFG LT295/70-16 but they only come in Load Range D. Do I really need Load Range E?

load range E is for haulin' some serious weight. i have D's on mine and i tow a boat and still don't have but 40 psi up front and 35psi in the rear. and my tires calls for 50psi. but it's all rated according to max load. i run a lower psi because my truck rides and handles better, and my tread wears evenly that way. i don't even have steel wheels, they're aftermarket aluminum alloys.

Ive read that the TRxUS's wear really FAST...not just from one person either. I was considering buying them as well. Ive found that Interco tires tend to not be top quality - they make tires predominantely for lighter rigs - Jeeps and 1/2 tons etc. If you log a lot of miles on the pavement you might want to consider another tire as these are more suited to gravel and offraod use.
