Would this look too tacky??

I noticed the other night how dark the back of my truck was too the ppl following behind me..

I am thinking of adding some conspicuity tape (the red and white reflective strips that all new trucks/trailers have on the back and sides) to the back of my truck to make it more noticable.. I was thinking either on the rear bumper or if possible on the receiver hitch.. OR maybe on the area below the tailgate (part of the bed i think) that you see right above the bumper (has the rivots showing on it)..

Do you think that would look too tacky? I dont think i have ever seen a pickup with it on it.. but I do know it would be much more visable to other cars..

thanks..

Re:Would this look too tacky??

There's a guy in my town who's done this to all of his vehicles. He's got a full size Suburban, the wifey's car and another all decked out in reflector tape, red/white. Did it to the bumpers front and back, whole length of each (4 1/2 feet of reflector tape or so) and some spots on the sides. Yes, it does look tacky. Very tacky. I will add though, he doesn't seem to have any dents, or maybe the tape is covering the dents. So, you think you got a very stealthy truck, eh? Get some bumper stickers you like, that are reflectorized. That would accomplish the same thing perhaps. Just my .03 cents (my portfolio made money yesterday)

~Dave

It sounds to me like you need some lights ;D I have 7 red clearance lights monted across the section of the bed below the tailgate as well as one or two ;D other lights (total of 68)added to the truck. No one should ever be able to say that they couldn't see me at night.

Here is what I did. Anyone that has followed me at night can tell you there is no problems seeing me.

The JC Whitney light bar is more of what I had in mind at first, but using the reflector tape - but the bar is a better idea.. I want the extra "notice factor" without it looking like the Griswalds x-mas.

And I like the bumper sticker idea.. more stealth than the tape by a long shot..

thanks for the honest feedback..
