Thanks for the nice sentiment CH!

Defending our liberty while at times a seemingly overwhelming task, is one that each and every Veteran will undoubtably say is a labor of love. Love for our country, Love for our families and Love for our Freedom. All of which requires vigalant nurturing.

The cost of Freedom has been paid for by our Fathers, Brothers, Son's and daughters. Let us not forget how dear a price has been paid.
Re:Thanks to all of our DTR Veterans
Good thread CH.
Many sacrifices have been made so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have. Saying thank you is the least that we can do. Thanks veterans for all that you have done for us.

CR

My hat is off to all veterans, I personally have not served (medical reasons) but try hard not to be one that does not take our freedom for granted. Just look aound at some of the other countries and we really do have it good here in the USA!!!
Thanks to all of you that did serve for the benefit of the rest of us and our country.
I also will be working on Monday and as CH put it my thanks and prayers to all of you veterans.
GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!!!
My respects and deepest gratitude go out to those who served before me. I only hope I can carry on the honorable tradition as well as you. I know I strive for it every day. Go Navy!

-SFB

Like I said before, thanks to those that got us to where we are today and those that are keeping us there now. That seems like such a small thing to say but for those of us that have served and are currently serving along with those that are no longer with us, if you can say it honestly and with feeling, it means something.

Thanks again and may God give us the strength to go on fighting for whatever is right.

That picture of the disabled vet who is the only man to stand during the Parade of the Colors hits pretty hard :'(

I would like to send my most sincere thanks to all of you who have gone before me to defend this great nation. It takes a great amount of sacrifice in order to serve your country in peace time but those of you who saw action during the various wars and conflicts are all my heroes.

I lost my greatest hero, my dad, a couple years ago. He was a Marine during WW2 (the Big War as he put it) and made the assaults on Iwo Jima and Okinawa. I am thankful each and every day for the sacrifices he made so that we could live in freedom today. I miss you Dad.

Thanks for the opportunity to speak my piece. Re:Thanks to all of our DTR Veterans
I also would offer my thanks to our veterans past and present. I would like to offer a special thanks to my dad who served in WW2 as a Coast Guardsman. Few know that the Coast Guard was even involved. He ran convoys across the Atlantic and the Med on a destroyer escort protecting the merchant ships from German u-boats. On May 12 1944 while chasing a sub his ship was torpedoed, 90 ft of the stern was blown away, 48 died and 36 injured but, the ship stayed afloat. He was in the forward engineroom and survived, but spent the rest of the night swimming in the sea rescuing those shipmates blown overboard and tending the wounded......thanks dad and thank you all vets.
