Wife fainted getting her hair done??

So my wife was getting her hair done today and she fainted. Apparently this had happened quite a bit to her years ago. Sitting in the chair having the hairdresser tug on her hair would cause her to faint.
The paramedic that responded today said this is not necessarly uncommon and there was a name for this.

Any idea what this "condition" is called?

Hairdressers Syncope. (sin-coh-py)

Fainting and syncope are caused by a lack of blood flow to the brain. Fainting may have dizziness. Syncope is an instant blackout.

The first thing you want to do is recline the person with their legs above heart level to get blood flowing.

Before diagnosis, was this a homely old female hairdresser, or one of those trendy effeminate male hairdressers??

If the first case, then she most likely fainted; if the later, then she probably just swooned.

Maybe I missed something in Paramedic class, but I can't think of a good reason for this happening. I'd definitely check in with the doctor to make sure.

Hmm, did the put one of the big hair things on her head? Might be something like claustrophobia? Have see people that put on a crash helmet, and/or a O2 mask pass out.
Or I would think you might pass out from sticker shock when you get the bill for the hair do.
Do have her checked out, it could point to something that needs attention. Don't delay.
