The phone number originates in Seattle, Washington, not Reston, Virginia.

Reston, Va is a 703 area code.

if they call what you have on craigslist and ITEM and don't name it, i don't even respond.

i did string one along long enough to get the fake check once, it looked good, but the printing was crooked (not parallel) to the paper & the background.

looks like if you are gonna take the time to run a scam, email me ~15 times, and pay postage, you would PUT THE CHECK IN THE PRINTER STRAIGHT, aaarrggg!!

That is a typical scam from like say, Nigeria. What they will do is you will cash the check (which is no good and two weeks later your bank will want the money back) your bank calls the number some clown says its good, then the buyer says some emergency came up and you can keep half the money just send the other half via western union to him.

 

Imagine how many people actually do fall for it!

 

I just got my regular e-mail from Military.com and it had this article in it:

MIA Marine's Name Used in Email Scam

Sounds like they are trying to make it a little more real sounding. And the fact that they used the name of a MIA Marine from Vietnam is disgraceful.

I saw an add in the Houston Craigs last week. Don't remember what it was for, but it had an email for a Joestien@chruchmail.com or something similar. it wasn't anything that the real guy would be selling. it was obviously a scam.

And to answer the original question, lots of people every day. otherwise, this nonsense would have stopped along time ago. I like the ones that want to buy your stuff for more than what your asking and want the change back. The can't write a check for the right amount. Their pen only writes larger amounts.

 

Due to the nature of his health, it sounds like he will have a hard time BBQing as well.
