wheel swap

to make factory alloys from a 2001 fit on a 97 all i have to do is remove some material from the outside edge of the rear drums till they fit inside the wheel......is this correct ???

I'd say try it before you do anything.

Find someone with original wheels and see if they'll let you try one on for size.

I have a set of OEM's sitting on the side of the garage, and wouldn't mind at all letting someone try them on for size.

Gotta be a nice newer Dodge owner around you somewhere's.

I remember reading somewhere (?) that someone made spacers out of 1/4" steel. Might not be worth it as you'd have to balance the spacers and get them machined so that they'd fit exactly centered on the drum.

i checked at a big truck shop that does brake work and they werent sure it should be done.. something about the drums needing to be balanced ???

Well I have heard if you put them on a break leathe*sp and have them turned down they will fit and be balanced.
