I have 4 pairs of boots
I have one pair of Tony Lama cowboy boots made from elephant hide (tough as nails but very supple), one pair of water-proof Hi-Tech hiking boots for general use and one pair of Timberland hunting boots (Gore-Tex and Thinsulate - keeps my feet nice & warm & dry) and one pair of Red Wing steel-toe safety boots that I wear when needed.

I have a pair of these Redwings on my feet right now. After about three months of agonizing break in, they've become very comfortable. My first pair of redwings years ago got canned before I could get them broken in. By 14:30 I was ready to limp home. I bought my first pair of Caterpillar steel toe 6" boots made by Wolverine sold by Sears. They were the most comfortable by far. Now the company says steel sole boots are mandatory as well as steel toe. Not many options so Redwing it is. They're tough...

Wolverines, because they make a nonmetalic safety shoe that won't set off the metal detectors at work. I bought two pair at the same time and alternate them daily to allow them to dry out. They last three times longer that way. And they don't smell like three dead skunks.

Anything from The North Face is going to be quality equipment. Most of the cloths that I have (expecially winter cloths) are from The North Face.

I'm a gas cylinder delivery truck driver, so I am very hard on my boots. I wear Double Tuff steel toe logger boots made by the Cove Shoe Co. in Martinsburg, PA. They are made in the USA by union thugs whose main purpose in life is to make boots that will stand up to rough use, and your personal comfort is of no concern to them. Once they're broke in they are fine, but until then they are hell. These boots take me almost a month to break in, but they hold up to cylinder kicking for longer than the Vibram soles last. Every other brand I've tried, the uppers fell apart from the abuse long before the soles wore out. The best previous brand lasted 5 months, these last 3 times as long - and they could be resoled and used longer.

Wolverine Dura shocks , most comfortable boot I hae found so far,but I haven't tried them all, I work all day on concrete, blacktop.
When I buy a new pair I wear them a week or so , if I like them I buy another pair exactly like them. Alternate them every other day, if not being worn they are on the boot dryer.

I'm wearing catapillars for work right now. They last me about a year do to the gas & diesel eating up the soles. Guess I need to put the product in the tank instead of the ground at the pipeline. I'd like to find a comfortable pair of wellingtons no steel toe & that the sole would hold up to gas & diesel. Tired of laceing up boots at 0130.
