CTDinMT, aka Steve,
I've been in the military for 35 years now and I think I have a decent handle on how it works.
I've come to the conclusion that I don't, at least from the Air Force side. I called your office this morning and was informed that you were taking comp days off. Last I heard, there was no comp time or overtime in the military.
I need to have a long talk with you. You must be one smooth talking individual to get that. Or maybe you have a supervisor that falls in the DWI category.
SHEESH, what is this new military turning in to.

Hehehe! Yeah, I am on my comp! A few weeks ago I worked 12 days straight, 12 hrs a day, so the NCOIC hooked me up.
Thats the reason I joined the Air Force, not the Army! I'lll be taking leave in conjuction, so I won't be out at the shop til after x-mas ;D.-Steve
PS- That long stretch w/o a day off was smack dab in the middle of huntin season, so I DESERVE the comp!

13 1/2 years as an air traffic controller. Currently a supervisor at PHX Tower.

12 1/2 years to go and I'm outta there! Can't wait.

I build pools on the side.

I work as little as possible. I play as much as possible. Ain't that what it's all about?

Bryan,
I'm 40 and a carpenter and woodworker. I'm married to an amazing woman and we have two kids 8(boy) and 4(girl). I love living in a small rural community and making sawdust. Do a fair amount of timber framing, but my passion is Japanese hand tool work.

I agree with a lot of you guys, the kids really change your priorities; no greater blessing as far as I'm concerned. Just wish I didn't have to work so much. :'(

Nothing fancy, just drive a CTD for a living....

Almost everyone gave more info, so I guess I will elaborate a bit…. I am 62, Grew up outside of Binghamton, NY, late teens to Long Island. Several years doing job shop aircraft machine work, went to California, more machine work, production planner for a large shop. Some trucking in between, couple of years in the army, Germany, England, an Engineer Mechanic. Back to Long Island, had a truck equipment shop for a couple of years with a couple of wreckers, drove semi sand dumps, heavy oil tankers (#4, #6 heating oil), leased to Midwest Emory, Trans Cold Express, Rogers Transfer. Moved to Alabama, built automatic transmissions for a couple of years, than back to trucking, Eagle Motor Lines, Malone, LNG tankers for the City of Trussville (long haul deliveries) was a Volunteer Fire Fighter for 22 years, Mayor of my town for a couple of years. Just a Jack of All trades…. But always enjoyed driving more than working, can’t stand being closed up in an office or shop.

Married at 17 and 26, was married 28 years the last time, five kids, all grown, 12 grandchildren, 1 great and two on the way. We had a restaurant in Birmingham, she got the restaurant and I got the business….. Oops said that wrong, she got the restaurant and I got the house. Yeah that sounds better. I was on disability for a six years and my son decided to get into hot shot, lost his butt financially, I started working with him, he moved on, I am trying to wear out the Ram, and doing a good job of it.

Soon health will shut me down, battle with high blood pressure and plugged arteries, numb feet, etc. Told my kids, if I kick the bucket, rent a backhoe, dig a big hole and just bury me in the Dodge…. Just an old man that won’t quit..

Dave here, 29 again (been this age for almost 9 years now), I'm a Network Engineer/System Administrator, manage a dozens of the neat toys that lets our 'puters talk to each other, and manage a few dozen servers for the company I work for.

A beautiful wife who loves my truck and will not let me trade for anything smaller (as if), a 12yo daughter (who can't date till she's 30) and two 19 yo sons, and last but not least my perfect 1yo granddaughter.

Between wrenching on my '77 Goldwing, hunting, fishing, & making saw dust (which is the only thing productive i make in my little wood shop), i manage to tinker on the truck and even manage to get to work some day

Just stumbled onto this site the other day, and am already pleased to have found a great group of friendly and helpful guys/gals. Everyone here seems so eager to help others part with some serious $$$ Not me though!

Hi My name is Rey, I live in Stonewall Manitoba Canada. I travel around the globe installing, repairing, rebuilding etc. Printing Presses. I guess I'm considered a machine doctor, engineer ,guru, specialist etc. Absolutely live for hunting, fishing, camping & playing with my CTD. I really enjoy posting questions on this site to see what responses I get. One thing I've learned in the mechanical engineering side is many brains can resolve a problem in a shorter period of time. Cheers Guys and Gals.

I grew up in southern NY, about 15 miles from Orange County Choppers. Moved Upstate 10 years ago, east of Lake Ontario to be in the snow belt. I love snowmobiling. Nothing like have access to the trails from your own yard.
I worked as a dealership mechanic for about 17 years full time, mostly Chevy, Pontiac and Buick. I still wrench in the summer time. I went to work for Snap-on as a Technical Sales Rep. Did that for 3 years. Worked as a Factory Rep for an Automotive software company. Full time travel job. Worked all over the US and Eastern Canada. Now I'm a college instructor at Canton College. I teach Automotive, and Diesel. I've done some minor league diesel and gasoline emission testing and quite a bit of Biodiesel experimentation since going to work there 5 years ago.
