What are the BEST air tools
What are the BEST air tools for heavy industrial daily use? Specifically die grinders and needle scalers, also angle grinders and drills.
Have tried JET, Snap On, Ingersoll Rand general use.
Next attempt will be Ingersoll Rand industrial grade. Any other suggestions?
Average life of a die grinder right now is 3 months.

I have been using IR tools for about 20 years now. they have always been the best for what I do, up to 1/2" drive impact guns. Above 1/2" I use Fuji, they really have the jam for the bigger stuff.
The biggest things you can do to extend the life of your air tools, is oil them daily, and always keep the condensation out of your air lines. blow the tank off every day, etc. Lack of oil, and water in the lines will kill the hardiest air tools.
I have 1/2" IR guns that are 20+ years old, and are still working fine, so is my old IR die grinder. I have a newer IR 3/8" impact, its life is pretty harsh, but with regular maintenance and care, it seems to be holding its own.
other than that, the best brand, is the one that works best for you.

When i bought my tools before going to diesel school the Craftsman company rep told me the impacts (professional grade) were just rebadged IR tools. I dunno how true this is but they aren't too bad. I have used IR air tools and I must say they are good quality. I really like the 1 and 1 1/2 inch impacts, they really are tough and can encourage a bolt to come loose pretty easily. I've also used some older Chicago Pneumatic impacts and air ratchets, they seem to hold up fairly well.

Go down to a tire store like Discount Tire Co. and talk to the tire guys in the back.. That is pneumatic impact wrench HELL doing that kind of work day-in,day-out! None of them last forever back there.. But,..ask them which ones last the best.. They'll QUICKLY tell you which brands are not worth diddly-squat! And they have GOOD clean, dry air for their tools.
It has been too long now to remember the brand, but the guys seemed to like one fairly cheap unit that seemed to last virtually forever PROVIDED it was never dropped on its back end.. If dropped in such a way, it breaks the internal air selector valve mechanism and it is toast.
I was primarily interested in finding out about the industrial grade I-R "Titanium" models.. They seemed to hold up very well but rather pricey.
I'm saving my nickels for one of those...
