That's why Don Garlits has half of one foot, and designed the rear engine dragster from his hospital bed.

Front engine dragster pilots straddled the clutch bellhousing. (this was before super heavy duty scattershields)

Is it normal for them to be smoking like that in the first place at the line? You think that might of been a indication.

Yes. A lot of that is actually clutch material dust from slipping the clutch.

i had that happen to me in my 69 chevelle it took the whole dash and windshield out i only had the blanket over the bell housing and it tore it up
