2 Diesels And A Camaro, Who Wins
Where can you park your truck now days without something happening to it?
Last week (Wed. Aug. 17th) I came home from work and parked in the driveway next to my roomates 99 Ford S.D. diesel pickup. While standing between the garage and the neighbors house about 10 to 12 feet infront of my truck, I heard tires screeming. I made a step forward to see what was up and WHAM. A 2002 Camaro SS slammed into my truck at 70+ mph after hitting two trees. The impact threw my truck 8+ feet into my roomates Ford moving it another 3 ft.
To say the least I was ******, and then the j**k **s got out of the car and started running away. He didn't make it too far, I was able remember the old high school linebacker days and tackled him in the next yard holding him till the police arrived.
Now, I've got a demolished 2004.5 Ram pickup w/ less than 17,000 mi that the insurance company wants to put all used parts on instead of totaling it out.
Really no point to my post besides to pass on the sad news, but I will say that my truck fared far better than the camaro. (over $42,000 damage on it). Just venting.

Sorry about you truck. The only reason I voted for used parts was because back when I raced my volkswagen the two parts that always broke were the ball joints and strut bearings. I used to buy them in bulk at wrecking yards as new ones were 10 more expensive and lasted not much longer than the old ones.
Back to your truck, I would not accept used parts in your case. Consult a lawyer if you have to. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine in Calgary. As his Pathfinder was parked in front of his house a corvette slammed into it. the vette was going so fast that it broke the rear axle housing of the Nissan. Anyways, his insurance company fixed it with used parts, made him sign a waiver too
. The thing never ran thesame again. So he traded it in for a 2204.5 CTD.
Good Luck.

I consulted a Lawyer Tuesday, they have drafted a letter to his insurance company. Hopefully, they'll realize that it is more cost efficient to total it than to fight it in court. Thanks, for your help and input.
The insurance company wants to use a complete used box, both drivers side doors, frt fender, hood, rear axle and others. Those are the largest used parts. My other consern is the frame, I know they are built very strong but to move a close to 7000lb truck 8+ ft, into another 7000lb truck 3+ ft sideways, I think their might be a little frame damage. It also did brake the rear axle.
If there is frame damage you are better off having it totalled and get a new one. My 99 had the frame bent in two places and my husband refused to have it repaired. He didn't want something to happen while I was driving it and he be overseas.

I contact the Chrysler District rep at the dealership to make him aware of it and was told that my warrenties would be on restriction if anything other than new Dodge parts were put on. I have the reg. factory warrenty, the powertrain (100k mi), and a extended factory warrenty (7yr/70k). Now, I still make payments on a less than a year old truck and a restricted warrenty. If I'd have purchased the truck w/ no warrenties at all I'd have paid a lot less for it.

Make sure you get to take all of your personals out or off of the truck. They may fit the new one or at least ebay them. You won't get a dime for them from his insurance company. Been there done that. I even made them get my cd out of the in dash changer.
