Toyota Problems

All you guys that have said for years... "If Toyota had a diesel pickup...I'd buy that instead".
Be glad they don't and you didn't.
Toyota is recalling thousands of all models, including fullsized P/U's, and stopped production of 8 models due to sticking accelerator pedals.

I know, they are still great vehicles, but...... ??

Just reinforces the fact that if man makes it, sooner or later it'll break.

No recalls on my 02, but I get your point.
But this is apparently the biggest recall since Henry Ford.... and a very serious problem to boot!

Funny how people will jump on something so quickly. Its almost like a kid in school that has never done anything wrong, everybody is waiting for them to make a mistake. When the time comes people try to drag them down to make themselves look better. Toyota makes good vehicles period.. They are not perfect just like everything else that is made. I have owned 2 toyota's in the past and I will say this " They were the best vehicles I have ever owned.."
The fuel peddle was made somewhere in Ontario I think, Its a fuel peddle not an engine block, fuel pump, transmission, track bar, or the other hundred weak parts that the Dodge ram has. I would take a Toyota anyday.
Just my opinion.

One hiccup in an impressive reliability history... Not to mention resale history...

What would it take to get one of the big 3 to shut down until a problem was resolved? Never happened, probably never will.

This manufacturing/selling freeze actually gives me MORE confidence in Toyota.

At least they stand behind their product.
I wonder what Toyota would have done if they had VP-44 problems, lift pumps, track bars, KDP, 5th gear nut, ball joints, 53 block, etc

Toyota does have transmission, rear end, and overheating issues with there pickups. O wait you actually have to hook a big load on the back to find this out which 99.9 percent of toyota owners never do. Toyota will tow your vehicle to the shop to get fixed to bad they don't stand behind the truck and pay for the trailer tow.

The sticking accelerator problem isn't new to Toyota I don't know why it took them so long to wake up to the problem.

Good one 6cylinders, and also I have never worked or towed with my Dodge and I have had many issues with it. Don't know about the towing but I do have AAA just so when it happens I'm covered.

If they released the hilux over here, I would buy it still. I have watched the top gear polar edition 50 times now, that truck is a BEAST.

Wifey's 1995 Landcruiser.
80,000 miles with routine mantenence.
Now the complete (almost) exhaust need to be changed.
The rear pipe is still good........everything from the Mainfold to the Rear pipe is leaking. including two, count 'em TWO catalytic converters.......
Toyota price $3400 in parts, $600 labor.
And folks whine about DODGE Dealers Service and Parts Counters

Yup you read that right.....4 GRAND for the exhaust on a 15 year old truck.
Co-Worker knows the parts manager at another Toyota dealer.
My price, $2100 for parts.

I told Wifey I'll make arragements to get paid for the $600 for my labor......
She told me she'd start charging me $50 a meal to eat at Cafe' De Wifey.
Soooooo, long story short, the installation will be free.

Major trouble I see on her truck is the crappy steel they use on the nuts and bolts.
They don't just rust, They DISOLVE.
The front O2 sensor fell out when both hold down nuts evaporated.

My '99 CTD, 140,000 miles on the original exhaust.

Toyota has been sweeping this problem under the carpet (literally) for the last 2 or 3 years. They knew there was a problem but blamed it on the floor mat causing the accelerator to stick. After a few deaths and the last in a car with the floor mat in the back they couldn't blame the floor mat anymore.

Just like every other manufacturer to deny a problem until they can't anymore. The only difference here is that when they did finally step up they did so in a big way.
