It's amazing how it pulls the water off the river like that.

Back in 74 when the weather was very similar to this past summer, winter and now...we had five tornadoes touch down west of the city and two of them hit the city sewage lagoons as well as the main water supply to the north of the sewage plant. The water levels in the lagoons dropped several feet and within a 1/2 hr we had a rain that dropped over 4" on us in a few hours...very violent storm, crazy. I did not see any pupe in the clouds.

Looks like we are setting up for a repeat of that year up here.

Not really for me, but I grew up with tornadoes and know what they can do .... even the smaller ones will pull the asphalt off the road.

I grew up about 3 miles from the main gate of the Indiana Dunes State Park (northwest Indiana) and have seen tornadoes form over Lake Michigan and suck up not only water, but fish as well .... and anything else in the water.

And yes, I've seen it rain fish ...... its just as funny as it sounds.

They aren't used to them here. They get a couple a year but they usually damage a house or knock over a few trees or something. The death and miles of destruction aren't an everyday occurrence for New Englanders. Not from tornados anyway. Huge accidents or gang activities are more the norm here!
