Have not had TAG long enough to evaluate totally but the immediate effect was to lower the boost pressure required to maintain RPM and speed.
Before TAG: 55 mph cruise - boost 5 and EGT 500 range.
After TAG: 55 mph cruise - boost 4 and EGT still in 500 range.
Ocassionally boost may flicker back to 3 then back to 4 with TAG (have digital gage) It appears to me that at the very least the engine is operating more efficiently. Weather this will result in better fuel economy remains to be seen.

I guess you'll find people that see a benefit with the TAG and those that don't see it. It is interesting to note that everyone I have seen post negative comments regarding the TAG will not back it up with any data, while those that are happy with the TAG are willing to post information as to why.
Guess this is getting off topic...

I have never jumped on the TAG bandwagon, but I just have to throw something at this one. I sold my TAG after beating it to death and pinpointing no added benefit. I don't know what kind of data one could present to support their argument. 19mpg before and 19mpg after? Same amount of time from stoplight A to stoplight B, before and after? I could not pin down any smoother operation, no fuel mileage gain, no faster spool-up, no extra power, no...wait a minute. It did do one thing. It almost totally eliminated the turbo stall that most experience with the stock turbo when the auto shifts into overdrive under a load. I was hoping for more so I sold it. Got $100 back for it too.
The TAG principles only seem to work on jet engines, not diesels. I'd rather see you spend that money on a nice set of Cummins mud flaps. You will get more out of those.
That was bad of me, but this is one product that the DTR MythBusters have proven to be a myth. I just hate to see people sink $130 bucks into these things.

Just my $.02,

All I was stating with my post, was that for those that are against something, some specific reasons as to why would help bolster their opinion.
HoundDog, thanks for stating the reason you don't care for the TAG, instead of your original post, which just said "Don't think eaither one does anything but dent your wallet." Now, with the reasons behind your statement being known, I can appreciate your reason for not caring for the product.
The real reason for my post had to do with jd131313's post "I bought one of these! THEY ARE A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! And they will NOT refund your money. STAY AWAY POISON!!!!!!!!" This is not constructive.
And I've seen this kind of stuff regarding other threads on the forums, not just the TAG.
Just my opinion.

I too brought up the placebo effect on TDR.It shows nothing on the dyno from any posts I ever read.NO egt reduction. Some say it SEEMS to offer faster spool up and I think it takes a 1psi LESS boost to cruise. All I ever asked was some REAL proof which never came about.I have read how it SHOULD work and the principal but ITS not a JET engine WE are installing it on.In my mind it looks like a minor restriction more then anything.
We use our truck to tow a 13,500 lb 5th wheel. It spends 90% of its working life in this service, so our requirements might be different than most.
In this application, the primary benefits I've noticed with the TAG are:
1. Turbo is significantly (like 80-90%) quieter insofar as whistle and whine is concerned. This is a big deal when spending 10-12 hours a day on the Interstate. Remember, if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!
2. More importantly, the turbo instability (I'm hesitant to call it surge, but it sure sounds like it) at high throttle openings and higher engine speeds (i.e., high airflow conditions) is gone. This instability produces a noticeable "whoomp-whoomp" sound under high throttle/high RPM conditions like pulling a steep grade when towing at 2500 RPM or higher in 5th or 2300 RPM or higher in 6th. This hasn't happened after installation of the TAG.
I didn't buy it to get a zillion more BHP or to cut 2 seconds off my quarter mile times. It does what I bought it to do in my application, though. By the way, the dyno figures in my signature are with the TAG installed.

I thought and I may be WRONG that the comments on TDR were it made MORE noise and they THOUGHT quicker spooling. The WHOOMP WHOOMP noise I think your talking about is Turbo bark.A differance in enternal pressures when quickly backing off fuel pedal. My first thoughts and I'm NO expert is if LESS noise and LESS bark then maybe REDUCED BOOST! Do you have a BOOST gauge? I guess from your sig.its the Westach? If so what are boost and Egt numbers with and without a Tag? And your EZ set on the same level?
Turbo Air Guide
Here are some independent results regarding air flow and dyno information about the TAG. http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...&highlight=TAG For more independent test information see the Turbo Diesel Register Issue 44, page 111 and 150 for more dyno and emissions results.
The TAG is simply intended to help the turbo operate efficiently. It is not a big hp item and the results do vary some from truck to truck depending on how it is modified and driven. Most experience quicker turbo spool up, lower boost pressures under like load conditions, slightly higher peak boost pressure, lower EGTs especially with the TAG-II and some small increases in mileage especially towing.
Because the results using the TAG do vary, we do offer your money back if not satisfied with the TAGs performance and do ask for your feed back regarding your experience. Also we are happy to anwer any questions and share information we have collected that may not be on our website. http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/tag
