Tell me about Boulder, CO

I'm sick of VA and even sicker of living in a townhome. I visited Boulder last year on a business trip and fell in love.

I have an MBA and 10 years experience in DoD. What's there for me professionally, and how's the city in general?

Do you want my honest opinion? I HATE BOULDER!! I worked in Boulder for about 2 years and I can honestly say that there are some of the rudest and weirdest people on the planet there. Everybody in Colorado calls it Planet Boulder...because the people are so " OUT THERE " .

Housing is expensive if you are looking to buy something! I'd honestly look in a different area. Granted the scenery of Boulder is spectacular and it has some cool parts about it, but it is a very crowded city, very expensive city, and the whole city in general is just WEIRD. The town is full of college students and hippie's!

I've lived in and around the Longmont area almost all of my life and it's a pretty nice city...growing fast but in my opinion it's way better than Boulder.

I am currently in Golden and love it. Go to Boulder about once a week, ehh, pretty surroundings but I often am up there in uniform and have had a "baby killer" sent my way. Not everyone is that way though. Golden is in the hills, separated from Denver, but right at access on I70 into the moutains, lots of great biking and running trails very close, ATS Diesel is not too far, and free beer at Coors .

"Baby killer"? Seriously? That's nuts.

Yeah, that may have been the most extreme person, but I just laughed because it's ridiculous. Love Colorado though!

I love Colorado too! As long as you stay north west of Denver and avoid Brighton, Ft. Lupton, & BOULDER......pretty much all of the other towns and cities are pretty nice!

If not for the wife and kids, I would have been in Colorado a long time ago. I have never lived there, but have spent a lot of time all over the state. There are numerous places the that I could plant myself.

Take time to travel around the state a little to see what else is offered. If you're wanting to get away from the "city life", try some of the smaller towns. Especially on the Western Slopes where it is less crowded

I live and have lived in Boulder my whole life. I love it here, not everyone in Boulder are tree huggers. If you like to get out and hike and ride your bike it is great. It is very expensive to live here though, but there are a lot of places around Boulder that are not as expensive and are still nice. I love it here and i think some of the things that everyone has said about Boulder could be true in most cities.

Way back in the 50's I was stationed at Lowery Air Plane Yard in Denver. Could see the Rockies everyday then.
I do have 2 kids that live near Aspin CO. one in Snomass Village, the other in Basalt. Been there about 12 years or so, and love it. Took them a while to get good paying jobs but they did it. Not cheap to live in that area. Look around CO and have fun.

Yeah, of course, I didn't mean to make that sound like only Boulder is that way.

You and me both, though more towards the Denver area then Boulder though that is one of the possibilities for me and the wife. When I graduate STEP I am hoping to get into one of the 4 dealers in Denver area. It really is gorgeous out there.

Well not EVERYBODY in Boulder is a whacko, but the good majority of them are!! I worked at a paint store off of Pearl Street and talk about some odd ducks that'd come in there......the girls with hairy armpits topped the cake though!!

Like I said you should look at some other places like Superior or Longmont that are close to Boulder. Those places are a lot less expensive and still very nice. There are more whackos in Boulder than most places, but I still dont think there is as many as everyone else says there is. There not really whackos they are just different.
