Taking off the training wheels

My son wants a first gen 3500 but doesn't want the duals. What would need to be done to remove the duals and make it a regular 4 wheeler besides taking the spacers off the front?

That rear in there if I remember is about 3.5" wider than the normal non drw.It works fine with 16x7 or 16x8 wheels if you go bigger they might stick out a little far.
Danny

I don't know, after a few power mods, there aint nothing cooler looking than a set of duals laying rubber on the pavement .........

of course it cost's twice as much for new rubber

I agree but he don't like the duals for some reason.

Re:Taking off the training wheels

Pardon me, but I thought a 3500 without the duals was called a 2500. Am I missing something? Aren't the tow ratings are the same, or higher on the 2500? And if its a name plate thing, well those can be changed out easily.

Chris

Bigger rear brakes and a few other things on the 3500.

Re:Taking off the training wheels

Why spend the extra money on a dually when you dont want a dually. The rear brake backing plates will fit a 2500 but the front to rear proportioning will be out and cause extra skidding on the rear as it is set up to brake 4 wheels. Dieseldude get your son to explain his reasons for this to make some sense. On another thread someone had pulled the inside tires off in winter for more traction which is true but again the braking proportions are way off and puts extra pressure on the bearings and wheel studs.
