Super Bowl Halftime Show

Anyone else think that was THE worst halftime show they'd ever seen?? Very disappointing.

Janet Jackson was lousy, Kid Rock was disrespectful to the entire country and everything it stands for and Justin Timberlake had NO business exposing Janet Jackson's breast on national television for everyone and their unsuspecting kids to see.

The show SUCKED. I could understand what Janet was saying, but when Kid Rock was "singing", if that's what you wanna call it, I could not understand what he was saying. Just shows you what this country is coming to. Hoss, I agree with you 100%, but maybe it was something to help MIKEY out and get him of the hook, I just hope we won't have to see HIS ***** next year

What halftime?

I went to the garage to smoke and get away from the crowd. Never have been much for halftime shows.

You mean the University of Houston marching band?? Ahhhh.....they were okay I guess.....but when you're used to the Fightin' Texas Aggie Marching Band then other bands don't really impress you much.

Anyway.....worst halftime show ever. Actually made me mad....and I don't get mad very easy.

Hoss! I could not agree more with you regarding exposure of Janet Jacksons breast. Frankly, I turned down the sound during halftime and listened to the radio broadcast. They interviewed the NFL Commissioner Paul T and Don Shula.

I don't watch the Super Bowl for the halftime show, football is the primary reason. The commercials are always better than the halftime show anyway.

heck of a game......

OUTRAGE AT CBS AFTER JANET BARES BREAST DURING DINNER HOUR; SUPER BOWL SHOW PUSHES LIMITS

**Exclusive**

Top CBS executives approved a musical skit where Janet Jackson would expose her breast during the MTV-produced Super Bowl half-time concert, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"The decision to go forward went to the very top of the network," a well-placed source explained from New York.

The groundbreaking scene came during the most-watched television broadcast of the year -- and during the dinner hour for the nation's west coast viewers.

Officially, CBS drew distance from the show: "CBS deeply regrets the incident that occurred during the Super Bowl halftime show," the network said in a release. "We attended all rehearsals throughout the week and there was no indication that any such thing would happen. The moment did not conform to CBS broadcast standards and we would like to apologize to anyone who was offended."

In a press release before Sunday's game, CBS's sister outlet [VIACOM's] MTV promised "Janet's Shocking Moments."

"I'll get you naked by the end of this song," sang performer Justin Timberlake, moments before he ripped off Jackson's top, exposing a bare breast -- the nipple covered by a metal 'solar' nipple medallion.

CBS's main New York switchboard was immediately bombarded with complaints about the stunt, network sources said late Sunday.

The NFL claimed outrage over the stunt:

Statement by NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne regarding the Super Bowl halftime show: "We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

I'm with you Hoss. I don't get mad easily but I get mad all over again reading the press of it this morning. My wife went to bed immediately after the half-time show, she doesn't hold the luv of the game as I do and half-time kinda ruined it for both of us. I stayed up late to watch FOOTBALL remember football? When did the Super Bowl become about entertainment and less of gridiron anyway?
And btw, I was being generic about the marching band, it’s good to see young people taking pride in America (and Texas) and not doing it for shock appeal. Where was Tobie Keith when we needed him?
God Bless America and you too Hoss. Thanks for the thread.

I do not understand all the anger-stress etc about the "exposure" of J.Jacksons breast.
I don't think that this breast is in any way spectacular, as is the rest of this person.
I didn't see the show, but IMHO there are much worse things to be seen by kids on TV in any normal afternoon program than a semi-exposed breast of a woman that could be the grandmother of the younger ones. ( I'd suggest to watch the cartoon and animation stuff that's targeted towards the 5-10 year olds)
I won't comment on the use of the flag since it's not mine and I don't know too much about the US flag code.
I think that there is too much weight on the show and not enough on the match.

Markus, you're looking at it (no pun intended) from a European perspective where the female form is regularly displayed on TV, and where people are comfortable with nudity. This is uptight American TV, where an exposed body part drives "middle Americians" to dash to their telephones to flood the network with complaints. Oddly, there are nightly series featuring rape, stabbings, shootings, stranglings, robbery, and assorted violence....nothing. Where are they? But people go berserk when they see a boob...... ....a very nice one I may add.

Over here the "female form" isn't displayed on TV regularly. I think that there is a lot more nudity to be seen on the late night cable TV in the US than over here. It seemed to me a lot easier to acquire pornographic material in the US than over here. (Not that it's difficult on either side of the pond)
The point that amazes me most is that there is so much ado about a semi-exposed boob while there is an almost deadly silence about the rest of the act. (But maybe there wasn't anything else to talk about, so they decided to show a boob instead of artistic expression, music, show or whatever )
Since lots of US-TV series are imported by the European networks I think that in some of them like Autopsy there is a lot of nude flesh to be seen- OK the mostly female victims of serial murderers and rapists are dead, but nevertheless, you do see the parts that seem to wreak havoc when seen on a live person on TV ( OK, it's Janet Jackson, if it had been Michael both terms "live" and "person" would be disputable )

They should have let ***** and Toby sing the halftime show. My favorite commercial was the ***** doll for H&R blok.

***** for Prez.

I thought the halftime stunt was uncalled for, but I dont get into that funky music that I cant even understand the words to......so I just folded clothes & washed the dishes before the game came back on!

All these jackarses did was sing about themselves and how much the rest of us ought to admire them. The breast-stunt was just more of the same -- an infantile attempt to shock us, when a lot of us have been through a lot more than someone like Janet Jackson or Kid Rock. The partial nudity didn't bother me, but the immaturity and sleazy hypocrisy did. Let's talk about how hip we are. Then let's turn all the women on stage into rape objects.
Anyone who likes that kind of stuff just doesn't get it.

Say what you want about U2's politics, I'd rather listen to them any Superbowl halftime. Or *****.
