Starting to mess with Chatham and without protective clothing

Wow....I didn't even know that happened. I remember the commentators laughing about a guest on the field or something but they never showed anything. Good for Chatham. I wish I could have seen the hit he laid on him.

It everywhere. America is de-sensatizing its youth to homosexuality, nudity, crime, and foul language. Is all over TV, and the schools. I believe that is up to you as a parent to instill good, honest values in your children, and hope they stick.

We cant rely on T.V. to filter whats good, and bad. Because they obviously have failed miserably. I try and stay as far away from the IDIOT BOX as I can. I dont like it. I spend most of my time oustide, and my time in front of the t.v. is mostly watching the weather. OH well. this is my opinion. Take it or leave it, im done.

.......after proof reading this, I think I sound like an old man. Heck, Im only in my 20's.
Nothing wrong with being young and having old man values. I like to think I'm the same....even though I'm only 27......or was it 26??

Actually over here you do get the impression that the average US parent is concerned a whole lot more about his 10 year old seeing a bit of bare skin on certain body parts than about the same kid seeing a brain being blown out of the skull by a .44 bullet.
I do also appreciate the civilized tone of this discussion.

The sad thing is that your observation is probably correct. People here have grown so accustomed to seeing violence on TV that they usually don't think twice about it. Kind of like foul language. I used to cringe at hearing a single curse word. Now, even though I don't use it myself, it's just a common occurrence to me. Especially in the industry I work in, cursing is considered the norm. It's sad really, but that's kind of the same way it is with violence on television. I think Palmetto has the best plan.....just turn that ole' junk box off and go do something constructive.

Yep, when I grew up I heard my father say: "It's a TELEVISION, not a parent"

We could have afforded a TV set, but my parents decided not to have one, better spend the money on books, museums, travel and other forms of education.
A disturbing trend over here is that lots of parents turn on the TV during dinner to keep the kids quiet, maybe also because they don't take any interest in what the kids would have to talk about with them.
I spent a lot of quality time with my dad and learned loads of tech stuff from him. And I learned some other things too, but those would be a little long to describe. My dad died when I was 15.
But I did inherit a lot of knowledge, philosophy and love from him. Now I do value this much more than even the biggest TV that he could have bought.

Markus, you're right about parents turning on the tv to keep their kids quiet. I've seen that a lot. We try very hard not to do that around our house. However, I work on this site a lot during my time at home, and have found myself guilty of the same thing a few times so I could get something done. We as parents really have to watch that if we want our kids to grow up with proper values, morals and drive to do what's right, because television is not the most desired teaching tool by any means.

Maybe it wasn't even Janet. Maybe it was Michael with his latest enhancements. I can't tell the difference between them.

There's no such thing as bad publicity.....

But there definitely was BAD TASTE. We are losing or civility. F-bombs, a-hole, all kinds of things that were taboo not too long ago are no longer even flinched at.

I love capitalism, but "giving people what they want" in the form of lower standards and new depths of depravity is not what I had in mind.

Dispicable. Shameless.

The worst part by far is that they have the nerve to claim it was a "malfunction" or an "accident". How stupid do they think we are?

Did you notice how FAST CBS cut away from the boob shot? No human can react that fast. The only way they could have cut away that fast is if they KNEW is was coming and had already planned it.

The fact the the media is playing it up and parroting the laughably ridiculous explanations from MTV, Timberlake, and CBS only make me want to puke even more.

Hey, I am 20 and I found myself nodding my head through your entire post.

Unfortunately this thinking seems to be of a dying breed. I know around here it is. It's a shame.

I missed the dreaded breast incident only because I couldn't stand that little dink with OUR flag draped around him.

I know that our country and its freedoms are so ultimately precious. Some of our parents/grandparents. brothers, and sisters have fought for that freedom. It makes my blood boil every time I go to a sporting event and fans young and old are not paying any attention to the "symbol" of our freedom.

And yet, isn't that ability or right to express ourselves exactly what this country is all about? So, while I thought the flag shirt was disgusting and made me walk away, I love this country and the freedom that comes with it.

Please don't take this wrong......but because we live in countries that ALLOW us to voice our opinions, religious beliefs, etc. THAT is the true meaning of freedom, and we must take the good and the bad.
