Having owned the PT145, I can honestly say that I would have to be very, VERY desperate to go that route again. It doesn't even BEGIN to compare to a Glock 30 (no offense). The PT145 is the ONLY gun I have ever sold that I don't regret selling.

I bought one, kept it for two months and just couldn't stand it any longer, so I sold it for a loss to buy my first Glock (which, oddly enough was the G30). A couple years later, being the dummy that I am, I decided that I just HAD to have a G22 so I sold my G30 and bought my G22. Now I want another G30 (or XD or 21SF). Ain't life funny??

That I agree with, but unfortunately the nicer 1911's cost more than I want to spend right now.

1911's are beautiful guns...the all time classic .45 handgun...but for self defense I'd take a Glock over a 1911 any day of the week. Glocks are (arguably) more reliable and hold twice as many rounds as most 1911's. When it comes to my life and the life of my family I'm interested in whatever will give me the best chance at survival.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program...

Springfield XD 45

or

Glock 30

or

Glock 21SF

THAT is the question.

Ya I understand what you are sayin there are guns that obviously mean alot more than an XD or a Glock, my grandpa gave me a Belgium Browning, and also a 1890 octogon barrel Winchester 30/30.

thems prolly all rusty, let me hold them and i will polish them up....

what are your wife's carry guns? or should Hoss start another thread on that?

my wife likes the takedown power of the 45 for folks who are chemically excited.

but any kind of "hot" load (off the shelf premuim JHP's) are too much for her.

opinoins, or a new thread?

the wife used to live in WV. bears & mountian lions would come down, kill thier dogs, goats, any animal you left out side, and prowl around the houses. paw prints all over place.

that gives you a lot different opinion of guns and how the food chain REALLY works.

Heck, half the reason I got my CHL is because my fiance (sp?) wanted to get hers but wouldn't take the class alone. She's been around guns all her life though, her father was a master gun engraver.

Seeing that you've already used Glocks, I'd stay with them. Some people find them hard to aim and such things, but I've never had a problem. Since you've had a few, I doubt you do either.

I saw the same picture on Glocktalk. If I recall, that was 25 rounds from 15 yards...freehand. That's some GOOD shooting.
