It is easy take the gun apart and look at the thickness of all the material.

Are you talking about the material that the frame itself is made of or something else? I don't have an XD in front of me at the moment, but I've detail stripped my Glocks many times and never really thought they were lacking anything in terms of quality of construction.

When I went down to get my gun I went with the intentions of buying a Glock, the guy showed me a XD and took it apart and showed me the differance between the two and pointed out all the places that the XD was built better, I was actually very surprised and purchased the XD.

Interesting. I'll have to try and take a peek inside of one to see what the difference is. Knowing how utterly reliable the Glock is, was the salesman suggesting that the XD is MORE reliable, or was he simply pointing out obvious design differences?

He was basically saying the XD is built stronger than the Glock, the guy is a competitive shooter and shoots thousands and thousands of rounds, I really don't know much but from looking at it the two guns together the XD appeared to be built better.

Fair enough. Having seen some of the torture tests that Glocks have been put through I'm not too worried about them not being able to stand up to abuse, much less normal wear and tear. If the XD is built even better than that then it should be one tough gun.

Hey Hoss... Have you looked at the S&W M&P Compact? They make it in 9mm and .40 S&W with .357SIG coming as well as talk about a .45ACP. Take a look at them I just bought a 9mm and I like it way more that G-Locks and XDs...

Here is a pic of mine....

Glocks have served me well for a long time and take lots of abuse. Nice and simple too.

I looked at a XD and didnt like the feel. Still looked nice and have heard nothing but good comments about them from people who owned them.

Im going for personal preference on this one. I have my Glocks because XD's were not available when I bought 'em! Still would probably stick with a Glock if I were to buy one today.

Good luck with your purchase!

Wink Hoss on Glock!!

I have a 40 in the Glock-27! This is a Sub-Compact and it shoots fairly well. The XD-9mm is also a Sub-Compact and it is so much easier to shoot. It weigh's less, is far more accurate, and when you pull the gun up to shoot it is like the XD is made better for the natural point of aim than the Glock. They are both the same size with the exception that the XD's have a Max Clip that will hold 6+ Rounds more than the Glock. The wife is deadly with both and she prefer's the XD over the Glock. Trigger Pull is about the same. The XD has the Grip Safty, Trigger Safty, and the overhead pin hole so that you can see the Brass in the chamber. You can also look at the back of the XD to see what position the firing pin is in. Both are great Guns, but I'm leaning towards getting the 40 cal in the XD and selling the Glock.... JB

I have an XD .45 Tac. and a G21. I finally put a custom aluminum frame under my Glock to solve the problem of the goofey grip angle. The Xd is a good shooter as is the Glock. Out of the two I think I would buy another Glock as they are easier to work on and aftermarket parts are more prevalent. I work part time as a personal security agent (bodyguard) and when lives are on the line the one I choose is the one shown. HK USP.45 TAC.

XD has been through more torture tests than the glock.

Just does not yet have the reputation.

I think he was. Glock has pretty much been put through every torture test you can imagine.

I hope so. Not knocking the XD, but the Glock has most definately had more torture tests just by the fact that they've been around a couple decades longer than the XD. I've got 2 Glocks. Don't really like them all that much, but the darn things won't quit working. I've held an XD a couple of times, and they just don't suit me.
