Some VW TDI help please.

Wife and I are thinking about ordering a Sportwagen TDI, but I want to get as much info as possible first of course.

Anyone know if they have any aftermarket modules that increase the FE even further?

Can you recommend which forums may be the better ones to research information on them. I'm hoping there is a VW TDI forum that mirrors the quality of our DTR community.

Thanks in advance

Yes they sell after market chips, but I don't know if they increase fuel mileage. The site above has specific forums for increasing fuel mileage.

My dad had 2 TDI's and had to get rid of both due to mechanical and electrical "opportunities". Both we brought brand new and always stored indoors. Great motors, but the electrical system was a nightmare. The final straw was dad and my niece sitting in town at a light at -25. The car shut itself off, would not restart, rolled all the windows down and started honking the horn. The culprit, security harness wires shorted out ($1400 to fix). That is one of 6 major issues that happened with that car before he sold it.

Look like we may wait until the Lincoln MTZ Hybrid is released this fall.

41mpg city, waiting for Highway numbers, but it's combined rating is 39mpg.
