Slate for 8' pool table - help

I have the slate for an 8' pool table. I have had it for several years and intended on buying a new table for it, but I have decided to just get rid of it. Does anyone know what this stuff might be worth?

You're kidding, right? Do you know anything about pool tables? I looked at used ones and even though they weren't as much as new they were still quite a bit of money. I was looking at replacement slate this morning and what I found was over 500 bucks.

$500??

Seriously, how thick is it? If under 1 3/4-2" I wouldn't expect much. People don't know much about slate under pool tables and would go to store (if they needed it) for purchase and get some cheep 5/8-3/4" crap at half your price and still need someone to install and level.

If ALL your edges are without chipping you might check some pool forums, if you have a single chip on the edge you have 300+lbs of shop top material.

I guess I'm saying if you have 1 3/4-2" slate it won't crack and need replacement so you buying market is about nill.

Mine is 1" thick, which is about standard from what I am reading. I searched google for a bit and couldn't find much of anything on slate the thickness you mention. I can't imagine that there are tons and tons of pool tables out there with slate that thick. I mean come on.

My table has a 1 3/4 slate, Brunswick make, by no means top of the line but not the bottom either.

Good luck on the sale.

If you can sell it local i would slap $100 on it and see how it goes. Forget shipping it cause it would be frieght and not worth it. Then, bust out the shotgun....

Once upon a time I used to be an installer for a local pooltable company.. Sorry but your slate is not going to be worth much.. There are several stlyes of slat Backed, One Piece, 3/4, 2", 7/8, 3 piece, oversized, standard just to name a few.. Your slate was designed to match your pool table model. . Selling your slate will be very difficult if you dont know what exactly the type of table it came off of. Even then it will not be worth very much. Good luck to the buyer on getting it hime without it breaking.. This stuff is very heavy and very fragile
