Selling on e-bay, without pay-pal.........

..................for all you e-bay sellers out there how do you do it? I use to have a pay-pal account but it got all screwed up, tried faxing relevant information to them per their requirments to prove my identification and no avail as of yet. I'm going to start selling on e-bay once I get the "irons" out of the fire but am not quite sure how to do transactions without pay-pal. Is there another similar secure service available? What are your thoughts, and why do you use what you use?

You could always have them send you a personal check or money order but you run the risk of somebody sending you fake payments. Just not work the risk to me, I like paypal because it is a secure payment option.......

Whats that "BidPay" thing I see? Have you guys seen the paylater thing? It's like when you purchase, you agree to some kind of credit card? =Scary.

I would suggest getting your paypal back straight, I have always felt like it's worth the fees for the speed and security.

Postal money orders. Personal checks (wait for clearing)
Only sell to good feedback. I don't deal with anyone with even 1 bad feedback unless the comment is BS.

Google paypal to get info on how they scam. They suck.
Paypal is not secure.
They have been sued many many times.
They can and will lock your account for no reason, and you can't get your money.
When I purcahse on ebay I will pay more if the seller takes credit cards.
Another option is COD.

COD? Haven't heard of that since the 80's.

I prefer cash, whenever I deliver or let someone do a local pick up I REQUIRE cash, if they can get a fancy certified or cashiers check, they can get cash too. Haven't heard of the UPS Man collecting cash in years.

Never heard of the Pay Pal issues, guess I'm out of touch. Well, I, myself have never had any problems with PayPal anyway.

The problem I had with pay-pal is I set up an account 4 years ago forgot about it. Now I want to do some real selling on e-bay so I tried to set up a pay-pal account again not remebering that I had one since I never used it. So there I am on pay-pal's website settin it up click ok and it says there is already an account for that e-mail address. Tried to retrieve my password but pay-pal won't let me pass my own verification of ID tests. I couldn't remember if I capitalized the answer to the ID ?'s or not so I tried it both ways. Then a security thing popped up, since I had tried too many different ways to prove my ID, and it said that I would need to fax a copy of my ID and a recent utility bill to them, I did. They said it would be 7-10 days before I would have my password reset. Got an e-mail from them a week ago said to reset my password click the link, did that and they want me to fax my information again!!! Souds like they are VERY high security, I like that!!! But don't ever lose your login info with them. What I think I'll do is get an additional e-mail address for the business and try to get a business pay-pal account.

Thanks for your replies and ideas!

They did the same thing to me. I signed up and started using ebay, than stoped and forgot my password. I filed to get it back and they wouldn't give it to me. I ended up getting a new computer and email than signed up again.

In the 600 auctions i have delt with I have used bid pay 1 time. It is about the same thing as paypal but the buyer pays the fees not the seller.

COD? Haven't heard of that since the 80's.
are you kidding me??? My brother worked for the ups man before xmas, for the rush, He said that there was one guy they did over 5 grand a day in COD's. I didn't think they used them any more, but I guess they do.

I bought my K3LA's on the net and the seller shipped them COD. I had a postal money order. Cost me 10 bucks more on a 500 purchase.

Nothing (and I mean nothing) high tech or high security about paypal. Just a bunch of morons at the helm. Your fax info probably went into a file for someone else.

I just got screwed by a guy selling diesel parts on e-bay. He didn't accept paypal anymore and would only take cashiers check or money order. He had 100% feedback so I took a chance. Within a couple week period he screwed people out of a few grand and now has many negatives and apparently was banned from e-bay. I will never buy anything on E-bay again if I can't use a credit card or Paypal. Most people follow this same rule so I think you may have a hard time selling that way unless the items you are selling are low cost items.

i've bought and sold on ebay quite a bit using paypal and haven't had a problem, not to say there aren't problems. there's a lot to be said about the buyer protection stuff that's offered through paypal, there's a lot of check/money order scams on there. i won't send a personal check to anyone from ebay or anyplace i don't know and trust because it's got my account, routing number and address on it. don't need a whole lot more info to do some real damage to me. i don't like giving my credit card # to vendors or typing it in the computer either.

we also had a similar problem where we were signed up for paypal, stopped using it and i wanted to get my own ebay account seperate from my parents', which was tied into my paypal account. it was a mess to get through but i'm glad i've gotten it switched over.
