Rent a Motor Home

Wife and I thinking about a trip next summer up to Yellowstone, Tetons, etc along with another couple. Our horse trailers have living quarters but not taking horses. Would love to take horses/mules and ride that country but too far to haul. Checked out Cruise America and seems kinda pricey, any other companies that rent motor homes or is there even an option of renting from a private party. I remember hearing several years ago that the private route can be more affordable.

Any ideas?

I would check with local dealers. There are always privated individuals happy to rent theirs around here. Just like your condo owners. Cruise America is pricey.

"RVing"

i looked into a similar situation. to rent/lease one for a short period is just plain pricey. you get hit with "additional" mileage fees and other small items.

funny thing is anyone who wants to get an RV plans on doing some major miles on them. the guys who sells them just blatantly gouge you on your enthusiasm to go RVing. they bang you for every single mile. they don't give anything away with the original rent(no or little miles included)

There are a few places around here that rent travel trailers... That may work out for you as you already have a fine tow rig... I don't know any of the details, just have seen the signs around...

Renting a travel trailer is a lot cheaper than a motor home, and you will get better milage with your CTD.

We have a used car dealer that has gotten into renting a lot of trailers and campers. Over the last few years I have rented a few campers from them. The first one was a 26 footer for $400/week and the second was a 29 footer with slideout for $500/week. They have several diferent sizes ranging from popups for around 250/week to the 29 footer. There is no aditinal charge for milage. They also have small motorhomes for a lot less than the national companeys. I dont remember the price but I remember them telling me the difference and it was significant.
