Oil clean up

My oil pan was leaking and I only had a limited time on the lift before I had to get the truck back together and get off so I rushed a bit and got the interior of my baby dirty. Does anyone have suggestions on getting out engine oil and grease from the carpet? While I generally like the smell of oil and grease when I walk into a shop, not in the truck...

Goo-Gone? Paint thinner takes it off as well, might not be so good for your interior though.

I like Simple Green.

Might consider using a home carpet shampooer, the newer ones with the upholstery hose. A lot of guys use them, they can be rented at the local food store or bought for about $200.

Careful with the harsher degreasers (goo gone, oops, etc.), I'm not sure they will get themselves completely out of the fabrics.

You mean everything other than Oil removal??

I have had great success with it (small amount) mixed with 1 part bleach 3 three parts water for deck and siding cleaner.

It IS considered a degreaser, right?
Are you using it for dish detergent or something?

$0.99 can of starting fluid will remove oil or grease from anything. evaporates quickly so it will not smell for long. safe on carpet.

As a person that walks in gear oil, hydraulic oil, grease, and mud, I will suggest a rubber mat.

Past that, simple green (straight on my tan carpet) and the foaming brush at the car wash has gotten everything out with the exception of one spot I cant get the brush into to scrub.

You may not believe it, but the cheep carpet cleaner that Wal Mart sells works awsome. Used it on the light brown interior carpet in my old achieva after working part time as a installer. Then followed up with hoover carpet machine with the furniture attachment and the grease and oil came right out.

For tough grease and oil stains I will pre-treat with Goop hand cleaner or Tuff Stuff spray, then use the shampooer with Resolve carpet cleaner in the water.
