New MegaCab for me??

So the wife tells me last night that she wants a portable DVD player. I ask her what for, we don't travel much. She says she just wants one, as they are about $150. I tell her I would gladly have an overhead unit installed in the truck. She says no way, she hates the back seat of the truck as it is too small. I tell her I would gladly trade my truck in on a new MegaCab with a DVD player in it when they come out, that way she will be much more comfortable. She frowns, hits me and walks off saying something to the effect of "it always boils down to you getting a new truck whenever I want something". I thought that was pretty insensitive on her part. How long should I stay mad at her?
Also, does my logic sound reasonable and sane to you guys (and gals)?

My wife can be insensitive like that too. For instance, I hinted at getting a new truck a couple of months back and she told me I was going to die in the one I have. I'm still not sure if that was a threat, a premonition or what.

Sounds like you have a choice to make. The truck or the wife.
Make sure to post pics of the new truck

You know, my wife was going to buy one of those portable DVD players, one with a 7" screen or so, back when they were closer to $350. I let her spend about 30 minutes looking at them in Best Buy, and then asked "Doesn't your new laptop have a DVD drive and a 15" screen?"

She took it better than I expected.

Anyway, keep working on her, I'm sure she'll see the wisdom of your solution eventually. Or not. Sometimes it's hard to tell.

I agree with t-7, better looking truck is right, I think I'll stick with my 01. Megacab(and the Dakota too) is pretty ugly, to be totally honest. No harm intended

You should have said you would get her a new Mega Cab with a DVD player. Then ask to use it later.

Hoss I think she was serious. She told my wife the same thing.

...and hotdram, I thought you knew better than to second guess your's. There's only one thing you can do, if you're sain that is. Give her the credit card.
Keep us posted on the model she chooses.

You just gotta keep whittling down her defenses. Mine takes 6 months to a year for large things, (truck, dirt bike, big screen TV) and about 1-2 months for smaller stuff (new goggles to wear when riding dirt bike, box for truck) till she just gets sick of listening to me. I actually talked her into the box for the truck when racing a Caddy one night. "Just imagine how bad we would have beat him with another 100 HP! We would have literally "smoked" him!". She's about as much of a gear head as I am though, so your results may vary.

This is how I'm going to be able to get my turbo cool down timer, I think. The more times we sit in the truck and idle for 1-3 minutes when we get somewhere, trying her patience, the closer I get.

Remember if momma ain't happy, ain't noooo one happy. Supprise her with a DVD player, so she can watch a movie on the way to the truck store.
One of my favorite movies "Ed and his Dead Mother"
