well i dont know some people say they are too long and too hard to park some others say that the dually looks goofy with the fenders some others say that the price is too high some others say that the cab looks bad some others like them there is a big difference between a 2001 and a 2006 these are different trucks with different engines the 2006 will be much quieter and might not give the same fuel economy oh yes some others are holding out for a mega cab long box for towing and the like but i think it will be a really long truck and might be hard to park down here in florida lots of long trucks at the stores and they either take up two spaces or park really far out i would think if they take up too many spaces for too long people will get mad and maybe vandalize the trucks but i dont know if this is true if you want there is a guy tommygun that can get you trucks or try around many dealers i think you should drive one for a day before you buy one just to make sure it is what you want good luck with your truck shopping remember some dealers discount them big and others think they are new and hot so they wont discount as much so shop around
For those that say it is too long - It is the same length as a QC LWB, so it's manageable. I drive a lot of highways and rarely have to deal with inner city type parking.
For those that don't like the look - that's just a matter of personal opinion.
Here are the pluses I have found:
1. Much quieter interior due to better door seals and laminated window glass
2. If you are looking at an automatic, the 06 tranny has tow/haul and OD off as options for towing so you get better performance and the option for an exhaust brake.
3. My mileage started out much better than my 04.5 had, and it is improving after 3 months/12k miles. Got 17.6 yesterday driving a little over 600 miles doing anywhere from 62-75mph.
4. 0% interest and no payments until October...
Those 2 apply to all 06's.
3. Obviously there is a lot more space in the back seats if you need it. Plus there is clsed storage behind the seats. I keep my tool box, tow strap, and emergency equipment in there and it's not floating under the seat.
These are not necessarily downsides IMO, but more limitations:
Only available with short bed
Price (Some dealers are trying to make you think they are in high demand, don't believe them).

The length I think is a turnoff because if you think of it... that is a big soccer mom hauler!!! I mean people say how big my "little" 02 SB is. I love it (mega cab,)I think it is awesome. I do want to drive one soon!!
I just bought one and it really isn't all that bad to park.... and if you look at the specs, the Dodge is actually 2 inches shorter than the crew cab Ford 250/350 with the 6.75 bed. I put my Mega cab up next to a 2005 2500 Crew Chevy and it's only about 7 or 8 inches longer than those. I really wouldn't call it Huge. It's big no doubt though... I have nicknames mine the "Blue Moose"
I love the thing. With my drivers seat where I drive (I am 6ft), I have a friend who is 6ft-4 who sat behind me and his knees where no where near my seat. Now that is nice. AND he could still RECLINE the back of his seat... nice too. AND I still had storage behind the seats to stick all my stuff that used to float around on the floor... that was really cool. AND I can fold the seats down flat so my black lab can walk around theback without tearing up my seats... pretty cool.
I have to say that if you spend more time using your truck as a people hauler than a stuff hauler in the bed area, you are going to be hard pressed to find something better than a Mega Cab. I have to say too that the Diesel Mega Cab is total overkill for what I use it for (hauling my enclosed 19ft snowmobile trailer, toting my family around and just commuting), but that is what I bought it for. I am so comfortable in it. And the comment about it being quieter is DEFINETLY true. I drove a Quad Cab and Mega Cab back to back and was astounded at the noise difference in the cab. The quad had cloth interior, but I have no idea of whether or not it had anything to do with it. My mother and father (I take them along on all my test rides... as well as my wife to try and keep the "new car buyer blinders" from getting to me) even said that the Mega Cab DIESEL was the quietest of all the trucks they rode in (Duramax, Powerchoke and even the Hemi... the Hemi was while it was towing my trailer... and it was a Mega Cab).
Sum it up. I am happier every time I drive it. The first truck that I have ever owned that I learned to like it more the older it gets! Of course.... it only has 1300 miles on it.
Good luck in your decision.

I sell these things and they aren't too hard to get, if you're looking for room in the back they can't be beat...they've got the same 160" wheelbase as a quad longbed, but all the extra room's in the cab. The poblem I run into is that the guys that are buying these trucks are pulling trailers for a living and they want to put a big fuel tank in the bed along with a 5th wheel hitch, and there's just not enough room to do it. I don't know if Dodge is going to make a longbed truck like this, but if they do, they will sell. Probably a little harder to park at WalMart, though

Depends on what BIG is. I pull a 33ft 5ver with mine not problem. I have a slider hitch and have not had to use it yet. Loaded my trailer weighs about 11.5k. The big red Dodge has no problem with it whatsoever.
