The new MegaCab 2006?

I know it's been hashed out and rumors flying about it, but I found this picture. It's the only one I've found that shows the full vehicle on a side shot. We'll see what Dodge says:

I really don't like the orange color. The size of the cab looks good but the color just isn't me. The black truck in front of the MegaCab is blocking alot of the view. I will have to wait for more pic's.

LOL

That is a pretty neat orange sleeper back there though.

Yeah, now THAT is what I call a MEGA cab!! Holy Cow!

As for the new Dodge, if I had to guess, it looks like it has the current shortbox on it, but appears to be close in overall length to the current QC LWB. Any speculation to bed lengths on these things yet? I'd imagine a MegaCab LWB would be pushing somewhere around 175-180" wheelbase!

Now that they have the cab room to spare, the one thing I wish they would have done was move the B-Pillar back, making the front doors longer like the 2nd gens were... being 6'4" I have my seat pretty far back and I find my arm riding firmly against the pillar when I have the window down. Shoulder room feels more cramped than my 2nd gens did. Plus, I think it would look better too. Oh well, as long as they don't fuglify the front end like the new Dakota/Durango, I guess we'll be alright!

I like it too.

My guess is the frame of a LWB QC with a short box, check the fuel filler. The B pillar is in the original position, with a new rear door, about 4 " longer. But behind that you will find about 12-14" of space to fill space to short box. So that is the big news, you will then be able to recline seats a lot as well as inside secure storage. At the same time they will likely introduce rear heat and A/C as well as entertainment systems. I think the MegaCab will only be offered in this lenght first, but maybe at a later date will the give us a long box option. That will be a really looong truck.

We will also see a new grill and new headlights in 06.

On a side note:

Saw 2 little squared box lookin' cars wrapped up in that black fabric last week cruisin' down Scottsdale Rd. here in Arizona. Sure were strange, looked like Honda Elements.

Here is the pic of the cab stamping as posted on the TDR thread in case anyone isn't following that thread. Obviously the Mega Cab is the right panel with the current QC panel on the left for comparison.

Berak,,, really good info.

I had to go out and measure my truck and compare with scaling your picture.

Front doors on 04 & 06 have 36" +/- clearance at handle height,

rear doors on 04 have 24" +/- clearance at handle height,

rear doors on MegaCab have 34-36" +/- clearance at handle height,

additional space behind rear door/seat is 12".

This thing is HUGE,,,,mmmm, is the cab too BIG,,??

I am sure the box will be a standard short box.

These new BIG rear doors may be the biggest among the 3.

Sure will be a comfortable spot back there during long trips.

My guess is there will be a good bit of storage behind back seat vs. the seat being mounted way back there.....Will be interesting to see.

I did some measurements on the MegaCab and came up with a 16" - 20" stretch over the current QC. Yes, all inidcations are that there is space behind the rear seat for storage which would also allow the rear seats to recline if desired.

Contingent of the width (meaning seating depth) of the rear seat, right? I'd say the backseat will be wider in a true crew in bench, bucket, or captain form so that will take some of the space.
However, the camo does seem to have a shorter verticle piece on the driver's side. To me that implies that there may be a storage compartment with an outside access door. The truck on the show circuit had one according to autoshow pics.

Yes, I think it's obvous the rear bench will be deeper but not the whole 16" - 20". They will most likely be the same depth as the front seats are now.

Didn't hear anything about an outside access door on the driver's side for behind the rear seats. That would be nice. Anyone else see / here this?

Oh my! 2006, you say? Looks like I'm going to have to buy a beater for a year or so and save money for that beast.

I'll take mine in Molten Red, please!
